Infiniti wheels stolen at work today.

A friend of mine at work today heads out to lunch around 12pm and to his surprise his Infiniti G35 is missing wheels on one side, rotors sitting on firewood, and some guy is in the process of removing the other two wheels. He asks what they are doing and they try to play it off like they are from a garage and changing tires for someone. Two guys quickly toss two of his wheels into a nearby pickup and takeoff. The remaining guy tries to walk off in a hurray, tries to stop a car on the road in front of our office building, and is trying to get into the backseat. After this fails he heads down the road across from the office building and this is where my friend chases him down and pins him against another vehicle until the cops arrive.

They also stole the back stock rims off a Dodge Durango, also sitting the rotors down on firewood.

I heard the story but was told my vehicle was untouched by someone who went to check out their Audi so I knew it was safe. I am glad I park where I do now, because every one that enters the lot and goes to the right can see my car from the side in plain view. Its a long walk but worth it in this case. Must have not been the brightest of thieves to attempt to steal wheels at the start of lunch break.

Dang glad your fx is ok. Very brave of your friend to chase the guy down. I give him mad props

Not as bad as your situation but my neighbor had the center caps stolen off his EX35. People steal anything to make a quick buck.

The guy caught claimed he was approached by these two other guys at a mini-mart and asked if he wanted to make some money. It's likely he will throw his friends under the bus, as they usually do. My friend is taller than me (I'm 6'5"), and is a runner. The thief was not going to win a foot race.

Damn you guys are tall. You guys should be IS bouncers.

just curious...is your work area in a fairly safe neighborhood or not so much?

I don't think it matters if the neighborhood is safe or not thieves will target anywhere. I actually think thieves target the better neighborhoods because they know that's where the more upscale cars are.

Safe, yes, without a doubt. It is in Amish Country. We had a random act once before where someone walking past decided to go into the parking lot and use a prybar as a way to open windows. This was around 7:30-8am while people were still arriving for work. He was also caught.

So did the cops recover your other two wheels?

When I left, my friends Durango was still sitting on firewood, and my other friends Infiniti was gone. Last I heard the wheels were still not recovered. It could have been a lot worse. The lot has its fair share of nice rides. A lot of newer BMW's and Mercedes, a few Caddys/Audi/Lexus. I only ever see my FX, one G35, and sometimes one M45 as far as Infiniti goes.

It sounds like there are a lot of dumb people around you... :)
