So I bought my fx45 Monday night. Drove it home and drove it to work and back home twice... Got home last night and have no idea where my ONLY key is. The doors are unlocked so I know its not in there... Now to get it towed to the dealer to get a key made.

Does anyone know if they can cut a key from the VIN or if they have to rekey everything?

It still could be in the car... between the driver's seat and center console is a notorious black hole that attracts all kinds of pocket contents. Is it a mechanical key or an iKey?

No its not an intelligent key. I looked pretty hard in the car, I remember loosing stuff in my g35 all the time. The thing is I was really motivated yesterday and got a lot of stuff done around my house... Right when I got home. So it could be anywhere. And I hadnt put my house key on the key chain yet so from the second I turned the fx off.... Gone. No memory of that. Im just glad i lost them AFTER I got home. So at least its nice and cozy in my heated garage haha.

i am betting under the seat I loss my house keys for over 6 months under that seat towards the right sitting in the driver seat I literally had to take the seat out to get it, the black hole is there retrace steps it can be right in front of your face. lol. good luck though.

Wow, I lose stuff between the driver seat and console also.. Whenever I stick my hand between there, I always fail and come out with battle wounds. :(

Just searched for about 3 hours with no luck. Took the seats out and everything. Even took the undertray out from under the engine bay since i had opened the hood. No luck. Any suggestions on getting it out of my garage when the tow truck comes tomorrow. Id really prefer to not have to drag it out. And since I cant put it into neutral I cant think of any other options.

There is a shifter interlock release to get it into neutral without the key. That will let it roll, but won't help with the locked steering wheel...

Have u checked underneath the fx maybe when u were getting out it could have fallen and be underneath the fx or ner the tires.

Call a locksmith. They can program and cut you a new key in your driveway in less than 30 minutes. I had one do my QX4 in less than 15 minutes. They normally use a after market key. If you need a Infiniti branded key, you can buy it from the dealer and the locksmith can program it.

If it makes you feel any better I had to break I to my own FX TWICE. It locked itself with the key inside somehow....,

I am finally able to drive my FX again! We did run into a few issues. Here are some pictures to help explain.

This was our first issue. I have a side entrance driveway to my garage so my wheel is always cranked when I pull in. As you all know, without a key you cant unlock the steering wheel.

Then the tow truck driver had a hard time getting the arm in.

Luckily we were able to pull it out of the garage easily.

Then we found another problem, With the wheels turn the wheel dollies were also turned. We made it 15 miles like this with no issues luckily. (How many of you thought I was going to let him tow it with just the back wheels)

When we got to the dealership this is what i got.

A little parting gift from Infiniti because they are AWESOME!

I have my remote on order from ebay and will see if I can figure out how to program it. Thanks for the support guys. Already feeling super welcomed in the forum!

Lol you know... I, honestly, got scared when I saw the pic of the the tow truck pulling your FX by it's rear wheels.. then I saw your comment.

*A towing company accidentally towed my friend's GTR at his house. They mistook it for a 350Z.. don't ask.
My friend was furious and asked how they towed it, but a witness saw the GTR being towed by it's rear wheels.
Long story short, Xou went to the Nissan dealership. There was a problem with the transmission and it was quoted at $14,685.63.
$21,448.63 for new transmission and fees.*

So watch out for those little tow trucks.
