Car makers pushing legislation to make it illegal to mod your own car.

One of the quotes in the article: "... you, as an owner, don’t actually own your car. Rather, you’re sort of just borrowing it for an extended amount of time and paying for the rights to use the technology."

Makes my blood boil by just reading it. Such audacity!

Yep, read that also. "...you as an owner, don't actually own your car..." statement really got my blood boil.

Thats a bunch of bullshit! Trying to make it illegal to work on your own cars. WTF are they thinking??? Hopefully they wont get their way bunch of aholes.

Thats a bunch of bull. They tried saying the same thing about jailbreaking your iphones. And where did they get? Nowhere!
thats never gona fly. Theres too many aftermarket industry that would go out of business if it did.

Licensing is the way of the future. Sure you technically own the car, but without license renewals and subscription services, they can lock down your cars capabilities. It sucks horribly, too.

Every single IT manufacturer that I deal with requires a la carte licensing to utilize specific software/hardware feature sets. Wow your new car is amazing, too bad you don't have a license for AC, sport mode, rear defroster, cruise control, and ignition!

Anyway you look at it profit will always prevail. This is jut a new way to rake in more $$$$. Also with the cars being more and more connected and technologically advanced, it's just a matter of time

never going to work.... they have smart lawyers in the sense that they are charging those companies hourly to write up this BS knowing it wont go anywhere... lol
