Ignition Coil

Guys if you remember awhile back, I posted about my car shaking... etc etc.. took it to dealer and it was an ignition coil..?

Now the same thing happens again to me today! car starts vibrating violently, check engine comes on.... and cats are red hot...

I'm so mad right now... since this time around I'm out of warranty...

Would someone please be able to tell me which ignition coil this is/was?
it says on invoice coil assy ignition-22448-AL61C

And does anyone know how much one is and the labor infiniti charges?
I know I'm going to get raped.
Taking it to dealer in the morning....

coils pretty easy to swap out, pick up a coil & try it, very easy to do. according to jeffs post that means the miss is cylinder #1, that's the front one on the drivers side... think theres only one bolt holding the coil down, easy job...

yea, also true, could be something else, but a dead cylinder out of the blue, coil is the most likely suspect, but yeah, a bad plug or a bad injector could cause same symptoms too...

you ment the p0301 was the problem last time or is that a code you just pulled? originally i thought you ment that's the code your getting now, but now I'm thinking maybe that's what you read off of the prior repair, then yeah, gotta check codes again first step...

Wouldnt this fall under:

Every new Infiniti comes with the peace of mind of Standard Infiniti Limited Warrany

6-year/70,000-mile Powertrain coverage

Doesn't all work done by the dealer have a 1 year warranty? If its the same coil, maybe you can get them to fix it again.

Well P0301 is the code that came up last time.. And they said it was "a shorted ignition coil"
So they "replaced" it.

I do beleive it is the same problem, because the car is behaving THE SAME EXACT WAY it did last time.. every sypmtom is exactly the same..

How much is a coil anyway guys?
I'm about to take it to the dealer so they can see whats wrong, if it's a coil again, I will be having it towed to my dads shop to do it myself.
If it happens to the same coil they "replaced" my dad is going to raise hell. That's all I know.

first step would be to go to a advance auto parts/autozone/pepboys can get the code read again.

From there, we can tell you what the next step would be.

A car shaking could be from multiple things, even if it seems like a prior symptom to a previous problem. What if this time is a bad coil in cylinder 4? Pulling the code is the only way to really know what direction to start off to.

I'm going to look it up gto.. The guy gave me an infiniti extended warranty booklet since my warranty ended just 3 weeks ago..
I don't want to extend though, because I want an e46M3 soon.

Where are the coils located?
I have to obviously remove the valve cover... and it should be self-explanatory from there?

And also, is the coil at the bottom of the plug or top?
Total noob to engine components.. etc.

it's a little box looking thing on the valve cover, with one electrical plug to it... there are 3 on each valve cover... the sparkplugs are undernieth these, one nut & it just pulls straight out...

Well, Infiniti just confirmed it.. they told my dad it's another ignition coil issue.. And ECM?

I didn't ask which ignition coil.. but if it's the same one they "replaced" before dont they get one more chance to fix it then lemon law comes in? (Meaning after I get the car back it happens a 3rd time)

Ok guys, I just got the car back 2 days ago.. and basically here is what they did

-Found two defective coil pack, one on each bank of engine.
Replaced
-They also replaced the engine control module?
-Got a new dashboard again (I'm on my 3rd one)

So what is the difference between a coil pack, and an ignition coil?
