Is it possible to switch my 04 fx35 without tech package and be able to switch to the infiniti smart key and change the ignition start to that knob? i hate carrying 2 keys ( the key and the remote) i know its probably gonna be costly but is it possible?
thanks!

It will not be possible without EXTENSIVE retrofitting and pretty much a full donor vehicle to ensure you have everything you need. Keys, antennae, wire harnesses, BCM, shop manual. I assume you will also need access to a CONSULT tool for any programming.

It would most likely be cheaper and easier to trade your FX for one that comes with the ikey from the factory.

Aiya got the 411 on this. :good:

Definitely "easier" that's for sure. :rotfl:

It is very extensive to do. I did find an article somewhere online where someone with a G35 did it, but it was a lot of work soldering, etc.

If your real concern is carrying two keys, that can be solved. I swapped my fob/key dual set for a single key in fob setup and it looks much nicer and is very small. Cheap to do, as long as you don't mind breaking apart your old key and fob to get at the chip and board.

^ That what I use on none-tech FX35. Take the key blank to a hardware store and have them make a copy of your stock. Pry the little door on the base of the stock key to get the chip out from it. I use chip from the valet key so I don't loose the key I normally use or the spare key. Glue the chip close the base of the key. There actually a spot for you glue the chip to on the inside of the remote housing.

This might be a good alternative

+1 for both of these. Exactly what I did.

It came with a Nissan badge that covers the screw but no other markings. That was what I liked about it.

I just pried the Infiniti one off the old key and glued it into the space on the back. Works great, and looks just about stock. The Nissan badge is a stick on. Optional to use.

So you replicated your stock key and used the chip from the valet key to keep the function of opening the glove box?
When you replicate your stock key, does the blank need to be removed from the flip case to be worked on or can it still stay on there?
Also, how much did it cost for the hardware store (Lowe's) to do it?
