After going through a ton of posts on exhausts I haven't found anyone that has tried to run the HKS Hi-Power Ti Exhaust. I think it's a sick looking exhaust with the angled dual canisters and the 4" flamed tips and I would love to adapt it for my FX.

Is everyone on here using the Legamax? Any ideas on what I would need to modify for the Hi-Power or should I just take it to a high-end exhaust shop and let them do the necessary adjustments? I would hate to buy it and find out it's not adaptable to the FX.

You'll prob need to extend the tips like most g35 exhausts out there. I know its pretty expensive and maybe that why many have stayed away, also i believe that particular exhaust is built for FI applications not 100% sure though.

Their site says the system is designed for naturally aspirated systems as well as FI, but who knows how much truth to that there is. I found some good images of the system but I don't know enough about the FX yet to tell what would need to be modified for it to fit.

People have modified the knock-off version of this to fit. If you get it for a G, just need to extend the tips.

That's what I was hoping to hear. Now I just need to find a reputable exhaust shop here to do the job, which is harder than it sounds. I wish it wasn't so expensive but I think it will look pretty slick once installed so it should be worth it if I can pull it off. Kuruma Motoring on eBay has one for $1600 which is about as low as I've seen it anywhere. If you know where there are any pix of what the knock off looks like installed I would love to see them.

Never ceases to amaze me how cool people on this forum are. This place is nothing like the WRX forum I was a member of where half the people acted like 12 year olds on a sugar high.

Thanks for the head's up on the pricing, It should have occurred to me to check G35 Driver since I'm a member there as well.

Evidently the tips on this are extendable with an allen screw. I wonder if they'll come out far enough so I don't have to have the tips extended with cutting and re-welding?

It needs to be about 5-6 inches, if not more. You'll have to chop off the tips and have new piping welded on and the tips reattached most likely.

I doubt they'll come out that far so welding it is. I assume any reputable exhaust shop should be able to do that without messing it up.

MY GTSPEC braces should be here this month so I'll have to see if there are any mods necessary to the exhaust when those get installed.

I don't see how this can be true. With FI, the general rule is wider is better. With NA however, you need to have some back pressure to generate power. Quite a few DSM guys were using FI 3" exhausts on their NA engines and actually lost power.

It's like you read my mind. I was just thinking that exact same thing. I went back and looked at their site again and paid particular attention to the wording. I wasn't paying attention before because it clearly says "Naturally aspirated vehicles also benefit from greater exhaust flow capacity as engine tuning levels increase." I read that to mean that without any other mods I won't see any change and in fact could lose power.

The stock exhaust sounds fine to me, I just wish the tips where a bit beefier and more aggressive. The design of the Hi-Power exhaust is what I like the most about it, it looks nasty with the extra canisters and flamed tips.

I should probably just keep saving up for a BBK in the front, but I spend way to much time on this site and it makes me mod-crazy...:tonguey:

If you have the towing package you might have to remove the hitch...it's bolted on so although time consuming it shouldn't be a big deal.

Looks killer though.

Oh and that thing about the WRX forum...the people in real life act the same way. I have a great story about them lol.

Hi all,

Noob to this forum (been on infinitifx.org for years) and this is more my scene in terms of modifications. My weekender is a '03 Z with greddy turbos and I have this exhaust.

One thing that I'd suggest (if you haven't already) is hearing this in person before you spend over $1K. It's a very unique sound and some don't care for it. My brother always said it's similar to a deeper version of the jetsons and their flyin saucers (at idle).

Other than that, it looks really mean and hopefully the fabrication works out for your FX.

Let us know how the exhaust works out. It will be good to have someone experienced with this exhaust on their fx. I think someone did have this exahaust on their FX but I think they moved on to another vehicle.

This should help you see roughly how much they should be extended, but this is on a 2nd gen.
