I have and 08 Awd, I am getting a loud ticking noise when making a really tight turn at very low speed in like parking lots. It does it with or without acceleration, it sounds like it is coming from the front drivers side wheel. I have put it on jack stands and checked everything I can think of, absolutely no wobble or ticking while rotating either wheel. I also am getting a shutter on braking and put a dial indicator on the rotors and they are warped, I have rotor pros drilled and slotted and the are replacing with the upgraded rotors and a new set of pads. I had a friend drive the car real slow and I looked at the wheel and it sounds as if the brake pad clips may be hitting the slots in the rotor somehow, IDk but my rotors will be here Friday and if i need to replace the hub bearing or Cv joint i would much rather do it while its apart. Also, I cant tell if the hub is whining why driving due to the tires I am running and i really don't think its the hub because I cant get any play out of it while on the stands at all. The car has 67k on it, any of you guys experienced anything like this? Its driving me crazy, again, it is a loud ticking noise that you can actually feel in the floor board. if it were a bearing I think I would hear something or get some play while on the stands. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

ticking can be a bad cv joint, check your rotors see if its hitting the shield. Check your sway bars, tie rods, motor mounts, tires.

sway bar end bushings

I have checked everything, and everything is tight. It almost sounds as if the brake pad clips are hitting the slots in the rotors. I get a humming noise on the highway but think it is the tires. How do you check the cv joints? Oh yeah, it doesn't do it while on stands and I turn the wheels or steering, only when the car in on it's own weight and driving.

I got my new rotors and pads today, I'm hoping that once I get it apart I will find the issue. I am leaning towards the pads too, I will let u guys know Saturday.

check ur sway bar ends when the car is on the ground with its weight. A worn outer CV-joint will make a clicking/knocking noise while cornering. A worn inner CV-joint will make a clicking/knocking noise when accelerating and deccelerating.

check ur motor mounts too

Well guys, I took my car apart last night and I will be damned if I can't find anything wrong! I'm swapping the rotors and pads and hardware to see if that's it, I don't know I'm scratching my head on this one. I have always considered myself as extremely mechanically inclined but I'm at a loss on this one! The only thing that makes any since what so ever is that the brake clips were somehow catching the slots in the rotor, but there are no rub marks on the rotor. Also, if that were the case it could only be caused by a worn out suspension component.. Which one? IDK, because everything is tight as can be, I would lean towards a wheel hub or an outer cv joint but to make that click.......click......click noise while turning slow I would think the bearing would have to be completely shot! All the bushings seem good, I'm not getting any clunking from the strut over speed bumps, the tie rod ends and everything seems fine. As we all know these parts in question are not cheap and to start throwing new parts at the problem can get very expensive. I know if I take it to the stealership. That's what they will do and it will cost even more. Again, any help in diagnosing the problem would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Start with the Pads and Rotors. You have to replace the rotors anyways because you said it was warped.
It does sound exactly like the problem I had last year, the pads were not sitting in properly and were shifting
and making a loud clicking noise only when doing a full turn at slow speeds forward or backwards. (eg. 3 point turn).
I remember thinking I would of never thought the breaks could make that type of clicking or almost popping sound.
I was thinking Tie Rod end links the whole time.

Well I got the brakes done and I thought the noise was gone but it's still there, not as loud but none the less still there. I am leaning towards a cv joint or hub bearing, I'm taking it to the stealership on Monday while I'm still in warranty. I know it is in the drive line, it has to be because brakes rotors are done as well as balance and rotate. I will let you guys know what they find.

By the way, I did notice while I was inspecting everything that where the sway arm mounts (not the ends) there is grease on the drip pan and or splashguard underneath on both sides. I don't know what it is as there is no grease fitting and I don't think they a filled with fluid like allot of the motor mounts are, do any of you know what or why this is? And does it mean they are bad? Obviously an easy job and I'm sure the rubber mounts can't be that expensive, any info would be great. Thanks

So get this! My car is at Glenn Infiniti in lexington, KY. They just called me and said the tech said the clicking noise is from the pads seperating and moving back and forth from the caliper. Which i KNOW they are not because i just put them on and used the sticky sruff from permatex and i gaurantee they would have to pry the pads from the caliper and mount if they disassembled them. Anyway, they are trying to tell me the hub bearings are good at 68,500 miles. I can hear the left front on the hwy and they say it is tire noise which is bullshit, i have driven this car enough to know. Any ideas you could recommend? I told them if they didnt find the problem i was taking to a diffrent dealer for reinspection. Whether or not that will do anything i dont know as their computers are all tied together. Do any of you know the national number for infiniti? Im fed up with their crap!

I rf balanced and rotated the tires last sat. When i did the brakes, the service writer said he was going to drive it and get back with me. That was 3 hrs ago, cant wait for his call!

I had the same problem, pads were not sitting properly, I did a break service and it went away.

I don't know about you... but I find what the dealers told you about the breaks very easy to believe.
The wheel bearing issue may just be starting and maybe its not bad enough for them to detect,
but I would not assume both issues are related

It gets better, they agree that there is a ticking noise but dont or wont find out from where! I asked if they heard the noise and they said yes! I asked if the problem was with the brakes and they said no! I asked if the problem was the wheel or tire and they said they rotated and said no! I asked if the noise it was making was normal for my car and they said no! I said then there is somwthing wrong and they said yes! I said well fix it and they said they cant diagnose it so they cant fix it!
Then it gets better! When i go to get in my car to leave i noticed they washed it and put 5 gallons of tire shine on my tires. Problem is the moron that did it didnt clean my wheels first so after he got overspray all over my wheels, then he took a dry towel and halfass wiped them off grinding all the saind and dirt into my chrome wheels and scratching all four of them. I had the manager come out and the detail manager and they said it was a new cleanup guy that did it and they would take some polish and get the scratches out!!!!! Ru freakin kidding me? At this point i didnt have enough restraint in me to wait and made them document it in my records and informed them i would be calling consumer affairs. I am sooo done with infiniti dealers, i have never had such poor service from any other manufacturer, i have owned porsches, mercedes and have a BMW now and have never experienced anything like this, let alone let a customer leave or pretty much make them leave knowing that they have not fixed an omitted problem with a vehicle.
WTF has this country came to? What ever happened to taking something apart to find out what is wrong with it and replacing the worn or broken parts? And what the hell has happened to customer service??????

Well I called Infiniti consumer services and explained to them what had taken place and they had me fax all my service records from both dealers that could not diagnose my problem. They said they are having a regional sw look into it and call me. I told them that I was concerned that my car was not safe to drive and that the dealer said that it was, I asked if they could guarantee me that it was since they agreed there was something wrong but did not know what. I told them they would be responsible if something were to happen and I think I may have gotten their attention. It's funny how they don't know what is wrong with my car, I'm sure if I were to have an accident they would diagnose the problem. Really, how can they be so certain that my car is safe when they dont know what's wrong with it?

Today Infiniti Corp called and tried to give me the same Bla,bla, bla and saying they could not diagnose. I told them I was going to the dealer and have the service manager and his best tech ride with me and then look me eye to eye and tell me nothing is wrong!
So i did just that and immediately the tech agreed something was wrong, he pulled it in and put it on the lift and checked the obvious places and nothing. Then he had another tech sit in it and run it up to 70 mph while on the lift and again couldn't find anything. I told him it only makes the noise while under its own weight, he lowered the car and put a block of wood under the wheel in question and lowered it and whala!!! Its the drivers side inner axle bearing and or CV joint so they are ordering and replacing it next week. I talked to the tech quite a bit and he assured that once he gets everything apart he would check everything else and replace anything else that needs it as a result. He then told me that they don't hardly get paid for diagnosing warranty work and they work as a team in the bays and the longer the bay is tied up the less money they make. In other words Infinity does pay the techs worth a shit for service work and he stated that all the time he spent on my car today he only made about 15 bucks! No wonder we all have issues getting these dealers to fix anything! Its easier to just say everything is alright and wait til it runs out of warranty and stick it in OUR ass!

i totally agree with u on this, infiniti in Los Angeles sucks too. Porschw is #1 when it comes down to service. BMW is about the same!

I love my FX even with it's quirks but my experience in how two different dealers handled warranty issues will probably prevent me from another Infiniti or Nissan purchase! If they won't stand behind their product they can keep them!

sorry dude but all the drama you caused and went thru could have been prevented if you just listened to dracula and checked the damn cv joint.. he posted it twice and yet you insisted it was the brakes or something else.. after reading your initial post, my guess too was the cv joint.. and as far as checking your bearings if they are indeed going bad, my advice is to go to pepboys next time.. for $20 they will put your fx on a lift, put it on drive and use a stethoscope to isolate the noise and and listen to all the bearings.. you said so yourself, what has this country become.. to many "princesses" if you ask me.. and as far as customer service infiniti provided you, they did acknowledge their mistake and tried to rectify it.. shit happens.. they were willing to work with you with all your complaints.. next time, remember.. you get more flies with honey than vinegar..
