So long story short, driving home last nite, slippery, dark. Dude (crackhead) runs across the street outta nowhere, i hit the brakes and turn to avoid him. Slide into a curb goin prolly 45-50km and scrape a wall with my front bumper. Not too worried bout the bumper, its cracked and scraped, but will get that fixed from buddy's bodyshop.

BUT...
I slid into the curb w/ my front left wheel as it was turned to the right, and it hit and hopped the curb.
The rim scraped/gashed bad, as soon as i pull out and start driving, the steering is Facked. Alignment totally off and its pulling/feeling messed in the steering. I pull in the garage, check it out in better light, and nothing visibly looks bent/broken, but theres something fked up, the wheel is not sitting right and looks like its sitting on an angle, lower control arm for sure i'm guessin, but i'm not really a car guy.
Took it out today, drove around the block to "feel" it and get a better look, and the toe feels out, pretty bad. Turning, it seems like its pulling bad. Def. does not feel safe to drive at all. It's not jiggly in the steering when i'm still and turn it, but when moving or goin over the slightest bump, it really grabs.

Now, i have bcaa, so i can get it towed, no biggie. But wtf are my options here?
I don't wanna go thru insurance cuz my rate will get raped, so i'm thinking i'm gonna bite it and get it fixed, but infiniti will prolly rape me too, but do i have any other options?
Any thoughts on how bad it could be/whats wrong just based on what i described??

Luckily i have a day off tomm, but i can't drive it around to diff mechanics to compare either. I need to figure out a place, get it towed there and fixed. FUCK!
My poor fx, it feels like it has a broken leg...

thanks folks.

Sorry to hear about your mishap, but it sounds like you are on the right path and you pretty much covered your options. Sounds like the lower control arm and possibly the axle too but won't know for sure until you get in there. Its either insurance, the dealer or a local mechanics shop. Good luck and let us know what the diagnosis turns out to be.

I had something similar happen, but this is the rear wheel:

wow, thx guys. Stu, urs looks alot worse than mine, sorry no pics yet. Similar i think in terms of the damage tho. What did u have to get done? was it hella $$$?
Is this something any decent mechanic/susp shop could do or will it be better to just go infiniti?

It was not "hella" expensive, but it was like $250 for parts, and about $700 in labor. I think it was just 3 metal connections down there. Control arms, etc.

Ok. So I just talked to a buddy's buddy who works as a master tech at Infiniti. Also turns out he went to the same elementary school as me!
Anyhow, gonna get it towed there tomm am. At least I won't get dicked round. He did mention that hopefully my subframe isn't bent. Is that likely based on ur exp?? But ya gonna hook me up on labour bigtime but gotta pay full for parts. I pray that my rim isnt bent either. Thoughts?

Mine was a pretty hard whack. I basically swung the rear end back across and into the curb. I still don't really know what happened, because it was a left turn and the rear end was swinging out right and somehow came back left, without me hitting the front I think.

rims should not be bent since you can drive it and its not "jiggly"....

as for the rest, hopefully just a bent arm/rod. and you were probably braking, slowed to about 30 km ?!

have you friend look at it, sounds like the right guy  let us know what happens

well, cant really drive on it but, doesn't look bent, to the eye anyways. and i did brake, but it slid and hit quick. didn't get a chance to slow down very much, but maybe 35ish i'd say....
man i gotta say, just hearing back about urs makes me feel a bit better.
def not as bent as urs looks, but again, mine is the front, so steering stuff??

Also, check the lugs and nuts after it. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but those are the lugs I had problems with one breaking off and another stripping. Although, that's also where I got my flat tire, and the nuts didn't fit well with the EX wheel I use as a spare.

Jag, sorry to hear about your mishap...that sucks bigtime. Sounds like you found someone to fix it but are worried about the parts? Not sure if this place can get you what you need but they do advertise 20-25% off most OEM Nissan/Infiniti parts...def worth a try. Labour there is a bit cheaper than dealership too. They're located just past Brentwood on Lougheed.

Read abt ur mishap on rs.

i suggested ztune on ur post in rs too but it might get censored cause they are not sponsors?

dont' know about labour being cheaper there. there regular rate is $80/hr but I think they are having a discount right now for $75/hr ????? I'm on their newsletter and i believe they are running some kind of promotion.

they are great guys though, excellent customer service and they work on everything nissan from 240sx, g35, r32 to gtr.

if you buddy is hooking u up with labour see if you can order the parts thru ztune.

bad news...
fml.
Was gonna post update yesterday, but was too depressed...
So heard back from infiniti and well, lets just say imma have to claim thru insurance.
Talked to my buddy briefly, but so far (based on what he could quickly id), my rim is bent, the control arms, steering control whatever, the tie rod, and knuckle. Thats just the mechanical, so parts (including the rim) gonna be ~3200. So ya, i called and made the claim, no choice, can't shell out 5g's plus outta pocket and well, its not worth it.
Unfortunately, I was at 35% discount (was a roadstar (43% discount) till 2 years ago when i slipped out on black ice and smacked my old accord into a curb and grassy knoll. But this hit will drop me to only a 10% discount, which means over the next three years, i'll be taking a hit of around 3g's. So ya no choice, plus imma need a new bumper cover and paint there and it looks like my headlight pushed over ever so slightly.

Also, i don't have loss of use coverage, and the infiniti loaners are all booked out for ~week. So i'm friggin transit/buddy's/gf till then.

Choked.

I guess on the bright side, i'll be ensuring everything gets taken care of and done to a tee since i'm taking the hit anyhow.....

My wheel, no. I was just going to let them leave it, but they said it should be checked for something messed up along with the repair. It sounds like you had more of a head on contact with the curb, where I just brushed along it.

ya it was pretty head on, so quite an impact. Hit the front left rim head on w/ the wheel cranked to the right...
i miss my car already.

Actually I did something like that down the same street haha. I guess Preston is just a bad street for me. I just missed a fire hydrant too. Right front over curb, while turning left.
