Hello,

I just installed new Morimoto 6000K headlight bulbs, and now the headlights are flickering on and off at the most random times. I didn't mess with any of the wiring, just a simple bulb change. Does anyone know what this might be? There were no problems prior to changing the bulbs.

Thanks.

Try re-installing the bulb, probably the connector won't sit properly. Happened to me before.

I already tried that a few times, and I know how the connector is supposed to fit in now. Are the 6000k too much for the stock ballasts? It seems like the passenger side goes out more than the driver side.

both headlight? if one side is the problem swap that bulb to the other side and see if it flicks. If it doesnt then you might of connected the wires loose.

i guess u got a bad batch

Ok, so the ballast is connected properly to the bulb socket? Like it turns and snaps in and locks? Also are the bulbs seated properly, where those two metal prongs you press and then lock them to the projector housing are seated properly? Definitely try and swap sides too.

yup!

So I contacted the retrofitsource where I bought the morimoto 6000k HID bulbs and he claimed that the bulbs don't match up with the OEM ballasts for infiniti/nissan. Is this true? I thought a lot of people use the morimoto 6000k? He said I need to purchase the osram cbi since they are OEM quality, but I don't want to pay $200 if I don't need to? Suggestions, comments?

Many people have bought the 6k Morimotos and never had a problem. I would just ask if you can swap out the bad bulb for a replacement.

Maybe you should bring the bulbs with you on Sunday to try them out one of our cars. Just to prove if the bulbs are bad.

Don't know about the 6000k, but my 5000k are doing great. Just finished driving 11 hours through out the night and they lit up the dark interstate roads beautifully.

First I would reseat the bulb. If it still flickered, then try contact cleaner. My buddies bmw had this issue, a little contact cleaner, and no problems since.

i too have morimoto 6000k's, no problems here

Funny, when i contacted them about a bad bulb i got(was wrong color), they never tried to get me to buy the OSram's. They never told me anything about Infiniti/nissan ballasts. Many guys on here had them with no issues, thats why i bought them.

I have installed 2 sets of Morimoto 5000k (mine and aiya's), no reported issues.

The HID ignitor socket does have a hard click when locked into place, more so over the OEM bulbs. It only has 1 direction of turn, if forced opposite then things might start breaking. Best to view the socket and know the orientation.

Ok, no intention to embarrass anyone here :smile (2):
Alex (king32) got the 50W Morrimoto 6000K instead of the 35W. Our stock ballast is rated at 35W. So there the answer! He is exchanging them to 35W and all should be good! :good:
