Headlight flickering on an '05 FX

Bad bulb or ballast maybe. Switch out the bulbs from the good side and see if makes a difference. If it does than you have your answer. If it doesnt than it could be a bad ballast most likely.
 
bulb, ballast, connections between the two, etc. You may have some water sloshing around there too. If your headlight even has a hairline crack the condensation could have built upand killed the ballast...happened to my fx35 once.
 
Thread revival. My headlight HID stopped working after some moisture got into the housing (when removing the cree dtrl bulbs I forgot to put the socket back in and it rained) anyway its not the bulb as I already tried swapping them back and forth. Also checked all the connections and they seem fine. Do you think it's the ballast?
 
what about swapping the ballasts?

I havent tried that yet. Though maybe someone had a similiar problem. I'll probably do that tomorrow since it'll take a while to remove the bumper and lights. Are the ballasts the same on both right and left sides?
 
So it looks like the ballast is dead. Does anyone know if theyre interchangeable between other infinitis or Nissans? Or are they fx specific?
 
UPDATE: I tried drying the headlight inside (while still it was still on the fx) by blowing hairdryer air into one of the socket holes. Seems like all the moisture dried up so the next day it fogs up again. Yesterday I completely took the headlight off. And sure enough there was still WATER inside. I took off the ballast, bulb, and wiring drained the water and let everything sit in the sun for a day. Put it back together in the eve and BOOM! The ballast started to work again. Saved me $60.
 
Has anyone experienced a headlight flickering then shutting off?

Mine shuts off a few times during the first 10-15 minutes of use. Since it's on a circuit breaker system the headlight can be turned back on.

This happened to my Infiniti I35 and Infiniti replaced the whole HID assembly...hope u have a warranty cause it costed about $1000 to replace throught the dealer :eek.: but I had an extended warranty on that car.
 
Hey guys, I'm having the same problem.. driver side headlight stopped working and passenger side started flickering.. After reading this thread, I figured it's the ballast, so I bought 2 new Matsushita ballasts from eBay. Now the passenger side is working fine, no more flickering, however the driver side is still off. I tried swapping bulbs and ballasts but it still won't light up.. any ideas?
