FX's underrated?

So I just read over Edmunds insideline's old long term test of FX50 http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtests/Vehicles/2009-infiniti-fx50-awd/ ( at least half of it). Can't understand what's up with people hating on it that much? Most of the comments were absolutely groundless just straight FX slamming, even when editors were quite amazed by this car. ofcourse there were couple VERY MINOR issues, but comments were absolutely ridicolous. Either it is something wrong with Edmunds insideline readers or people are really hating on our fx's. Personally i think this car is way underrated.

Haters will always be haters. Who cares what people really think? I can tell you who those people are that hate on the FX:

1. BMW owners (Only the douche bag ones that believe BMW's were made by Gods)

2. People who can't afford one, but decide to bash it. Not everyone can afford to shell out $67K on a vehicle.

I see these same kind of people commenting on other cars and bashing them too. It's called "brand war". I see this on Youtube also on car reviews. Just because one auto review website gives a bad review doesn't mean everyone else feels that way. Check out Roadfly TV on Youtube and search FX. The people over at RoadFly TV absolutely loves these cars. Nothing but good comments from them.

I don't know about those little internet trolls and their comments. But everytime I go out with my FX, it attracts alot of attention where ever I go. People always ask about it and how does it drive and all of that. Saying how it looks gorgeous and almost exotic looking. Actually it was because of me buying an FX that pushed two of my neighbors buying a moonlight white and umbria twilight 2nd gen FX. A third neighbor was about to pull the trigger on a 2nd gen FX too, but ended up stepping up even more and buying a 2011 QX56.

i can't say i agree about the bmw owners - being a former one myself! although the bmw i owned was a completely different type of machine than the fx.

i do have to say though - given the age & miles of both vehicles, the bmw was a much more solid feeling car. no squeaks, creeks or groans what-so-ever.

the biggest problem with owning a bmw is fixing it. everything costs 3x what a japanese car costs.

Different people have different opinions. Some will bash anything they see because it makes them feel good, some will bash the bashers because it makes them feel good, and some think everything they own is the greatest product to ever exist. The question is: Who cares? Say the FX really is underrated, big deal. All the bad reviews in the world don't change a single FX spec. If you bought your car as a status symbol you've got more problems in life than the comments of a few trolls...

I'm not saying that your saying BMW's don't rattle, creak, squeak. But yeah they do. I'm always looking at threads on bimmerpost and always see people complaining about rattles, squeaks, and what not. Here is a thread about a guy having rattles near the passenger side in his BMW X6:

http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=316206

And that's not the only one. I can pull up hundreds of threads relating to rattles in a lot of BMW's latest vehicles. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a lot of BMW's aren't even made in Germany anymore which is bull considering the fact that a lot of customers are lied to at the dealer thinking their buying a German made car. So this whole thing about German engineering is nothing but a crock of s***. Infiniti's aren't the only ones that get rattles and squeaks once and a while. Even Mercedes rattle too. I recall some threads on popping noises in these peoples headliners in their $100K S550 Mercedes. By the way I saw threads on that on MBworld.org

As much as I love Euro's cough*panamera*cough, they have their own problems too.

Wow take it easy man. I know that different people have different opinions. But I was just surprised to see that infiniti isn't that strong on the brand and that it desrves way more.

And I do not see any problems with symbolizing my taste for the awesomeness with my FX :wink (2):. Dude you are driving one of the most eye-catching cars out there, you must be symbolising at least something yourself.

No offense intended. I didn't mean "you" like as in particularly YOU, the OP. I meant it in a more general sense. I wasn't pointing fingers...

I bought my FX because I liked it. Me personally, not because it was expensive or the latest thing to hit the market. I live in a very liberal city with almost no car "scene" whatsoever, where the econobox and Prius reign supreme. Here most people scoff at "SUV drivers" for their pollution and poor fuel economy. A status symbol in my city is a $5K bicycle.

My point in the first post was that the opinions of most people are heavily subjective and should be taken with a grain of salt. Especially opinions from individuals who have little or no experience with the object of their appraisal.

who cares about what people think... as long as YOU like/LOVE your FX, that's all it matters. Car makers/designers sometimes go with the... either you "Love it or Hate it" approach... they go into the design knowing that there WILL be some people hating it... because if you design something that's going to be just neutral, you have something really bland... like a Toyota Camry, or Chevy Traverse :dontknow: I always say, if you're gonna rob a bank... use something like a Toyota Camry for a get-away car, because witnesses will have a harder time remembering it :.rofl:

THAT said... I'm also glad that the FX (1st or 2nd gen) isn't a car you see everywhere you go... It sets us apart :wink (2):

Camry was my vote for our get-away car...but noooo we took a H2 on 24s... and they wonder how we got caught!

lets get off this depressing thread! this is a group of people who LOVE their FX! coming in here talking about people who don't like the FX is irrelevant! like ken said as long as YOU love it, thats all that matters! anyone here will tell you what an amazing MACHINE the FXs are and when you drive them, they will speak for themselves!

Hey, it keeps the cost of used FX’s lower, more reasonable.

Does anyone else agree? I felt I got good value on mine, 2 years old 31,000 miles, certified they depreciated it $1.00 per mile from the first owner.

Update: 2013 white limited, only sell in low $20,000’s today, sheesh! The depreciation really started the day after I bought mine. If I had a crystal ball, I might have waited another couple years.

Off topic? Still goes to my argument for buying one used. $22K buys a pretty damn nice ride in 2019.

Long story short, still depreciated $1.00 per mile.

For any Doubting Thomases out there, running our 2009 Blue Slate FX50S (bought from dealer in 2010), now at 131K, as primary (wife's) car and 2006 Autumn Copper FX45 (bought in 2008) as second car, now at 187K. Virtually no repairs on FX50S and only minor wear out parts on FX45. These are magnificent machines, and still look new and draw attention. Can't imagine what I'll do whenever it comes time to replace one, but it won't be a BMW or Mercedes--terrible interior controls setups and way too expensive to fix--and yes, they start to need fixing after 60-70K.

I totaled my FX35 and bought another QX70S recently
Why not BMW ( I owned 5 of them before ) ?
The reasons are following
1. No garage weekends spend on BMW .
2. Driving experience is not that different from BMW .
3. Very well equipped and much less $$
4. Cheaper and much easy maintenance
5. Infinity does NOT leak oil like BMW .. and Infinity does NOT brake like BMW !
This list can go on and on :)
