My wife took the FX today because she had a couple things to do and its easier to bring our little one around in the FX than her mini. On the way home, it sputters and dies. She pulls on to the shoulder and calls me. I call roadside, and the wrecker comes, but then leaves cause he says houstons tow program won't let him get the car from the highway or he'll get ticketed. So now I'm sitting here waiting for houstons tow servc to tow me offf the highway so infiniti roadside can come pick up the car. I love the FX but I think this is the last straw. I think its time to trade her in. So frustrated....

Bro can you ask your wife more detail about it.. Something similar happened to me and a good cleaning of the TB solved the problem..

I had a good feeling about this motor too. Third time is a charm, YEAH RIGHT!

Wife said she was driving, then it started sputtering and wouldn't accelerate. Long block just replaced 1500 miles ago!

It wouldn't accelarate than it died and cruised till it stop? Right? Plus it doesn't want to do anything when you try to turn it back on..?

I see that you have k&n Drop in filter.. I used to have pretty much the same setting. When was the last time you cleaned the filter and the TB?

Throttle body was clean last time I looked at it, as far as I can tell which was about 7k miles ago. Would the throttle body have been replaced with the long block?

wrecker took car. Wife picked me up. Almost home now. What an ordeal. Wife doesn't feel safe in the FX anymore. And I don't like being stranded.

Sorry to hear this man. Hope everything goes well for you with the fx.

I remember when my fx left me on the side of the road.. She was detailed and shinning like a diamond yet I was pushing it towards the Mall's parking lot. Since then I pay lots of attention to every l thing. Sound, acceleration, lag, from what you described up there it just seeing like what happened to me. I wouldn't trust the dealership when they say they cleaned the TB. Probably they swap the engine and put everything else on. Lower/upper and TB without even cleaning it.. If I was you I drop the FX at home inspect the upper plenum and the TB, clean it and if that don't solve the problem call the dealership so they can pick it up..

Good luck bro!

may be too early to tell, but I am thinking part it out and sell.. Hard decision. Love the FX, but this experience hasnt been a good one.

Merchant, i may have a gtspec strut bar for you if I do decide to sell it. You know... the one that came in today.. :frown:

Man... that really sucks. I felt you. I had a lot of problems with my FX as well. No car is ever perfect. :frown:

If you decided to part out, let me know. I will take the sport tail and the 3000K HID fog off you.

Hey Kim - I gotta believe this particular FX is a lemon, man! It happens. Call Infiniti customer relations and explain the whole situation. I would seriously be pushing for a replacement car at no cost to yourself. Go over each event in order, and tell them you have all the reciepts. Have there been any insurance claims?

Most people never take advantage of the services we already have in our existing policies, or even Infiniti corporate policies. That's why it's important to go to customer relations - get to corporate Inifiniti, not the dealerships. Having problem after problem like this is a manufacturer's defect. If it was not, then all FXs would have the same problems. Infiniti has policies about manufacturer's defects beyond warranty. It's liability if they didn't. Sometimes you gotta be the sqeaky wheel - push yourself up the corporate chain until you hit a wall. Make it part of your daily/weekly routine until they are tired of getting your calls. I honestly believe they should put you in a brand new 09 at no cost to you. That's aiming high, for sure - but getting something less than a new car might be a compromise you are willing to take, depending on what it is.

I'm sorry you've had this experience with ANY car, let alone the FX. Hope they take care of you.

Mine died on me when I first got it, I punched it through a yellow light and it died and costed to a stop :frown: Has not happened since, however that was only in march.

not trying to be too dramatic, but this is going to be a hard decision. I am really thinking of trading her in after the dealer fixes whatever is wrong with her. I could go the consumer affairs route, but my wife really does not want another Infiniti. Her family has had not so great experiences with past Infinitis (J30, QX4).

But on the other hand, i love the FX, just not mine. and I know I wont find another great community like this one.

Picked up a loaner from the dealer this morning. They had just received the FX this morning so they had not had a chance to look at it yet. Will update once I hear anything.

thanks, sorry again to hear about your loss.

But I decided not to get the GTSPEC STB.

I may get the front lowers if someone is selling them later, but I will not buy them new anymore.

Sounds like this FX left a bad taste in your mouth. Seems like you just got a lemon. If you notice, the majority on here of FX owners don't really have major issues with ther FX's. Hopefully you can work something out and get another FX. I don't think you would regret getting another FX. Just something to think about.
