front license plate??

I live in Dallas Texas and technically you are supposed to have front plate, but it is not a law that is regularly enforced. Most cops will not care if you don’t have a front plate unless they are using it as an excuse to pull you over for something else or if you act like a total ass during a traffic stop. It’s one of those ticky tack violations that that most cops overlook. I've been driving around and pulled over several times in the DFW area and never have a state trooper or local PD ever said anything about my missing front plate.

cool thanks man i see alot of cars around here without one. i have one and took if off but quickly put it back on because of the giant hole drilled on my bumper!

hahah thanks.. you guys have an answer to everything. I took a quick look and they don't have a kit for our FX. Or do the other kits fit? Anyone know which one should be the right one...

I'll keep looking around before drilling the holes. I don't want the license plate to fly off so probably no tape for me.

I've gotten the front plate tickets usually from the parking enforcement officers... they figured since they're giving you a $50 ticket for expired... why not give you a front plate one too. :k:

I drove around without one for a year and a half. If you don't want one, but are worried about the fine, just carry one in the seat pockets, and when you get pulled over, just pop it in the front window. Little trick I learned from the guy who owns the Ruf Dealership here.

I've been driving for almost 13 years and never once with a front plate. Been pulled over TONS of time and only once have I got a fix-it ticket. I still dive without the front plate 'cause i'm stubborn and willing to pay the fine. I get harassed in my truck because I currently work on an airforce base. I carry the front plate under my seat and they ask where it is pretty frequently. I say "it's right here" and whip it out quickly. Then they tell me it's supposed to be mounted on the front or on my dash. I set it on the dash and then back under the seat as I drive away =)

My wife's car does not have the front plate. We are playing the odds. She does tend to drive conservatively.
I used to have a red sports car. A cop used my lack of a front plate as an excuse ot pull me over. Since I had just moved to Texas less than a month previously, I did not get cited.

Darren804...You could mount the license plate bracket upside down and screw it on the first horizontal bar on the bottom bumper opening. You will end up with no holes on the painted bumper.
