Exhaust Upgrade

Your options for the first gen are plenty depending on the aggressiveness, catback or axel back, bolt on vs mod to fit, etc. LOTS to consider. :)

Invidia
HKS
Flowmaster
Nismo
Stillen
Straight/test pipes, etc.

Don't mean to jack this thread but I'm sure it will help out the OP make a decision as well. How does straight/test pipes affect the engine? Like CEL and all that jazz?

Pat can you give me some more info as to what mods you did to get the exhaust to fit of the g35. Thanks

I grabbed a g35 coupe exhaust (specifically Greddy Spectrum Elite) and bolted it right onto the FX with no modifications. However you will have to extend the tips about 4-5 inches in order for them to be flush with the bumper as they are shorter on G35 coupe exhausts compared to FX exhausts.

Go for Invidia. No regrets here.

I also like your set up and the look of the tips. If you don't mind sharing how much did you spent for it including doing the tip extensions?

So all I gotta do is extend the tips. I'm getting an exhaust from I believe an 03-07 g35 coupe. Extend the tips is the only mod done correct

It was a little more than i anticipated for just an axleback. If i added ~$100 to the total i would probably be able to score a used Invidia, but the breakdown is below:

Greddy Axleback exhaust - $550 new (i bought mine slightly used so shaved some off this)
SS Piping, Tig welding, both tip alignment - $200
Exhaust Installation - free, its an easy DIY especially if you have a second pair of hands, otherwise add ~$80ish
