Exhaust help!!

Hey gang,
I have been researching several different exhaust setups for a while now, and I have narrowed it down between Stillen, Nismo and Invidia. I am looking to buy asap!
Invidia would be great cuz of the deal we get thru Gordon and the sweet burnt titanium tips, but I'm not sure about the tone. It seems pretty quiet when I look it up online, not much louder than stock. Is this due to the resonators? Has anyone tried to delete the resonators on the Gemini cat-back system? How does it sound? I'm not going for top fuel or anything, but if you're gonna do it, you might as well doooo it, right??
Stillen would probably be my second choice, but only cuz I'm not sure I wanna plunk down close to $1500 (after shipping, install and any necessary mods). Humberto has Stillen and it sounds pretty sweet. Anyone out there know how to get a Stillen exhaust for cheaper?
Nismo would probably be my top choice cuz of the tone, but I'm not sure how to go about getting one, and I don't know of a good LA exhaust/muffler shop to do the mods. Anyone know if jbaker is still selling his? (I can't send him a PM cuz I don't have 10 posts yet...grrrr...) So if anyone can tell jbaker to PM me I would appreciate it!! Nismo s-tune with the burnt titanium tips is my ideal setup. I love the tone of Nismo!!

Thanks for the help guys!!

Invidia..quiet!!! Definitely not. it has a different tone than the rest. It will get loud when you're going past the usual 3k rpm.
Stillen has that raw tone that i have heard from Bassani exhaust on a Z. very aggressive.
Nismo is an upgrade to the stock exhaust in that it's louder and keeps the same exotic tone our stock set up has.
and NO, I don't think JB is selling his. his exhaust is Nismo but tips are from motordyne engineering.

Invida is loud. When you first get the invidia, that's when it sounds best. As time goes by and the exhaust breaks in, the drone is like having a million bees in your fx humming like mad. Only solution is sound deadening products. (Currently im doing to kill the drone from the invida)

The nismo requires you to cut and weld to extend the tips. Sounds good. But i don't know if there are any performance gains from it.

I like the stillen but stillen's prices are rediculasly stupid.

If you need something modd'd, head over to AAA
contact Pepe, tell him you're from InfinitiScene, & he'll hook you up.

I went to AAA muffler on La Cienega and asked for Pepe a couple weeks ago. He's not there anymore, and the guy who is the self-proclaimed "new Pepe" was a jerk and didn't even know what a cat-back exhaust was. Plus their mandrel bending machine is broken and won't be back for at least 2 months, and he kept trying to push Elite mufflers on me. So needless to say, I will not be using AAA muffler for my installation. Anyone else have a local LA muffler shop they recommend??

Dr.2k-
I talked to Humberto today. He said he was gonna contact you for me so I can ask you about Nismo exhaust. Did he? Will you PM me plz? (I still can't PM ppl!! :frown:)

Btw thx for the replies amigos!

Just ask here whatever help you need as that will help others in the future. And others may be able to help you out as well with issues I may be unfamiliar with.

Dr.2k-
I was hoping you had a hook up...
Humberto said I might be able to score a Nismo exhaust out the door for less than $1000. Am I dreaming?? Where did you get yours?

Back around 3 years ago you could have gotten a new s-tune nismo locally for under $800. But now that is a pipe dream, lol. I bought mine over 5 years ago barely used with less than 100 miles on it at a steal. Sorry no hook ups on my end.

No more pepe, huh?
Weird. He was the owner. Must be under new management or something. Too bad. It was a great shop.

I got my Stillen from the g35driver forum for $350 used (young kid needed money). Took it to a reputable muffler shop and they installed it for $100 including elongating the tips.

Generally Stillens and Nismo S tune are going for $700 used. Stillen on an FX45 sound beautiful. Reason I went with Stillen... I used to listened to Humberto pull away from my house and fell in love with it. It is very quite driving around, and very aggresive when getting on it. Nismo's are a little louder overall, inside and outside the cabin.

Eian.

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner.

I have a the shop that can help you on the install.

Call me when you can.

Just busy here at the office.

hey man sorry I never responded here
You can find the nismo stune used all over Z/G forums, fro around $600-800 with decent miles. Like others said, you need to get the tips extended so it reaches the FX bumper correctly. I have motordyne titanium rolled tips on mine that were installed when I got my tips re-extended with proper SS piping.

Now, along with the Stune, I have a kakumei ypipe and kinetix HFCs. It's a bit louder than just the nismo but I personally think it sounds great, and everybody seems to like it. Doesnt really drone either....
check out my youtube for a video taken after the ypipe install

good luck!

Soooo I ended up going with the Invidia Gemini cat-back system. Gordon was really cool and helped me out by recommending a local muffler shop right around the corner from his warehouse to do the install (for an unbelievable $80, including cutting and welding a section right by each flex joint!!). I had to do some mods cuz the 06 FX45 has a slightly longer cat than the 03 version. They did an excellent job! After I let the system break in for about 100 miles, I gotta be honest in that I wished it was a bit louder. So I called Gordon one more time cuz I also wanted to trade the single walled ti tips I originally purchased for rolled ti tips (a much better look IMO). I went back down to the warehouse, picked up the new tips and went back to that same muffler shop and Juan cut out the resonators and welded in a section of straight pipe (polished chrome, just like the rest of the Invidia system, with flanges) and changed out the tips for only $50!!

So now I'm loving my new setup! It sounds beefy and deep, and is definitely louder (without sounding ricey at all!) which is what I wanted. Thanks Gordon!!

I'll try to post a vid sometime soon...

Rolled tips always look better that single wall.......IDK they just do

the exhaust will get louder after some more driving....I think my exhaust is like hollowed out now hahaa
