My goal is to eventually slap on a JWT TT. First I'd like to upgrade the exhaust, but don't want to replace components more than once. Can anybody just recommend the most simple exhaust upgrade (or just list the components for me) that would match well with the TT?

I will of course assume free flow cats and resonators, but could use some help with suggestions. Would a few of you throw out an example Bill of Materials for what you have done on your FX and what they like and dislike about the choices?

Thanks!

Are you AWD or RWD?

Take a look at this first:
InfinitiScene.com - View Single Post - FX: Did You Know? (FX Facts)

The simplest and most efficient given that you want to go FI are Stillen (bolt on) and Nismo (extended mid pipe, extended tips). Stillen is 2.5" dual, Nismo is 3.0" single. Some other 350Z and g35 exhaust will fit as well but will need some modifications. HKS Legamax is the other bolt on but it's just 2.5" single so not a good fit for the twins.

oh well not just the problems fx'ers have had, but people in general. apparently people cant get work done by SGP, such as trannys still there for the valve body upgrade and people cant get their tranny back. just check out my350z.com. its weird though because some people seem to really like them. :dontknow:
also check with Chinke82 (sp?) on here. i think his sig says something like, still at SGP

I'm RWD.

Where does the Stillen exhaust kit end - at the Y pipe or at the headers? Do I need anything else if I go Stillen?

And how are the cats in the Stillen - are they restricted at all or does the dual config take care of the flow capacity?

Probably a different thread, but thanks for the heads-up. I have been talking to SGP and they seem to be totally swamped. Not sure if that's totally a bad thing - means people are knocking down the door to get in there. On the down-side, it's tough to get them to call you back. I don't know anybody personally that has had work done there, so I'm happy to read up on it or listen to first hand experience...

It's a cat-back. Replaces y as well. For cats, the best you can get are Fast Intention ones or Berk ones. Take a look at my350z.com and g35driver.com for deals. I personally wouldn't get anything except the cat-back from Stillen. I have headers but I don't really like it that much. It was a good deal that's why I got it. Just get metallic cats from FI or Berk. 03-05 Z or 03-06 G35 cats should fit the FX35 as well.. If you want to do headers as well, DC, Strup and Nismo are the good ones. DC and Strup are cheaper @ around $500-600 and Nismo is over $1000.

edit: if you do it all, meaning headers, hi-flow cats and a cat-back, your FX will be really loud and you have a chance to experience some drone. FYI..

Stillen trigger pulled

Thanks for all the discussion - I ended up going with the Stillen exhaust. Should be at my doorstep in two weeks. Next up - upgraded intake plenum or Spacer. But that's another thread.

Good choice, but dont be too alarmed with the loss of power while you're N/A. It'll make good gains when you blow the motor.

I reset my ecu with the stillen exhaust install & there really is no loss of power down low if you ask me, not enough to feel seat of the pants anyway, but the gains up top are noticable

ECU reset - what is the benefit and how can I do this?

ecu reset takes the ecu back to a default unlearned clean state, wipes the adaptive memory clean & starts from scratch relearning the characteristics of the fine tuning & adapting that the ecu does. almost like rebooting a pc.

2 ways to reset, either leave a battery terminal off for several hours, overnight maybe. it doesn't happen with just a momentary power loss, needs to be hours, don't know the exact amount but again without really knowing, the longer the better to make sure it actually does reset.

2nd way & the way I do is, search here for the term "pedal dance", you'll find a procedure for doing a reset that involves cycling the key, stepping on the throttle... timing is critical & many have trouble with it, but if you use a stopwatch & try a few times it's really not so difficult..

Tadashi told me it takes 24, but I'm sure that was just a guess at it to go all clear for sure
