is the new EX35 more powerfull than the FX35?
in our newspapers advertisments(middle east) they mentioned that the new EX35 is maybe 314 HP! while the FX35 is 280 HP!

in addition the EX is much smaller and lighter in weight than the FX

Yes the EX is faster than the 35 and 45.

Lighter weight plus the vqhr engine Edmunds: EX35 Full Test - InfinitiScene.com

Well that's the 1st gen ever to come out of the EX. Now they have improved the FX and yur comparing the last of the 1st FXs to a brand new debuted car. The real comarison is with the '09 EX and the '09 FX.

I agree; the fair thing to do is compare '09 cars to '09 cars. In which case...

0-60 According to Edmunds:

'09 EX35: 6.5s
'09 FX35: Not yet tested
'09 FX50: 5.6s (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=125872/pageId=138061 )

Motorweek and Car&Driver pegged the FX50S at a flat 5.0s 0-60: (http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...overs/2009_infiniti_fx50_short_take_road_test)

Motortrend got a 5.2 for the FX50S:

Motortrend & Trucktrend (aren't they owned by the same company?) got a 6.1s from the '09 FX35.

EX35 is quicker than the 08 FX35 I believe. Not sure about the 09 though.

I'm still baffled why someone would buy a new 09 FX35 when the FX37 is just around the corner? I believe they are going to look the same, with the same features, same price, but with the FX37 having the more powerful engine.

Am I correct in thinking this or am I totally off base?

While no announcements have been made about the FX37 (currently on sale in Europe) making it to North America, it makes sense. However, the power gains will be pretty nominal. The FX37 is rated at 320PS (metric HP) and 360 PS in Europe, which is equivalent to 315HP and 265 lb/ft torque. That's a bump of 12HP and 3 lb/ft of torque over the 2009 FX35. There are those who would argue that 3 additional lb/ft of torque will have nada impact on acceleration.

Higher model designation, though :top:

One reason could be price. I'd guess that once both versions are on the lots, Infiniti and its dealers will be offering a fair amount of incentive to sell the 3.5L. Some folks may be more concerned about saving several thousand dollars as opposed to the [slight] performance gains.

I'm not sure what planet these people are from...but they may exist....

I'm talking about '09 FX35 vs '09 EX35. The American Infiniti versions. I believe the EX37 is only in Europe. The G35 sedan is now becoming the G37 3.7 ltr.

If you're considering the EX, why not just go with the G37 sedan. You'll get the 3.7 and 7-speed transmission. The fuel economy will be a little bit better and there really isn't too much difference in terms of cargo capacity.

Basically the EX is a more of a sportback version the the G and less of a SUV. (I hate the term CUV). The FX is more of a SUV than car.

Even though the EX doesn't have a huge amount of cargo capacity, it's still more versatile than a G; the hatchback design lets you put bigger things in (especially if you put the rear seats down) that wouldn't fit in a sedan's trunk. And the Around View Monitor was a gadget I had to have; they G doesn't have that.

2010 FX35 RWD Curb Weight = 4156 with 303 hp/262lb-ft of torque (give or take at the "crank")
2010 FX35 AWD Curb Weight = 4278 with 303 hp/262lb-ft of torque (give or take at the "crank")

vs

2010 EX35 RWD Curb Weight = 3757lbs at 297hp/253lb-ft of torque (give or take at the "crank")
2010 EX35 AWD Curb Weight = 3953lbs at 297hp/253lb-ft of torque (give or take at the "crank")

Maybe by ONE car length at MOST in my opinion (Correct me if I am wrong with the numbers/physics?). Unless I am wrong but 6 hp and over 400lbs in weight difference, how it is it physically possible to smoke it? In order to smoke it, you'd have to be 2+ car length at minimum (but even that still troubles me and find it hard to believe), don't get me wrong it a fast car but (and the EX35 is no match the FX50 whatsoever.. I would buy an FX over the EX anyday if my parent payed extra for it but..), wouldn't the EX35 be a little more aerodynamic against a bulky FX35 especially because it is more low to the ground? The FX35 most likely wins no doubt especially with the 7-Speed, but sorry but smoking it sound a little to exaggerated (I would expect it to be a close if not ALMOST dead on race, Just my opinion!).
