alright guys, my engine recently just acts up weird from me starting it up on a cold start and letting it warm up. First of all when i start it up its in the high rpms and then drops to 2 or 1 1/2. but after like 4 or 5 mins or less. the meter mainly goes up and down between 1 and 1 1/2 for like 2 or 3 mins. is that a issue ill try and capture it on camera next time but just seeing if i can grab some help

first thing I'd check for is a dirty throttle body, although what your discribing doesn't sound like it's def that, worth at least checking it for that...

hmmmm . . . that's normal on the warm running. Generally, if you clean the TB, & it goes outa whack, it'll run higher, & needs a consult reset. Let's see some video

Also, check if your AC is on. Even on a cold day, and when you're auto climate control is on, your AC is also on. It is also very normal for it to go up and down for a bit when it is warming up. No worries.

Think it is just a matter of the engine control trying to keep a good idle at startup.
I don't know about you but when i wake up in the morning i am also not in the best mood:err:
Just don't let it run idle too long, better to warm up during driving (not full throttle ofcourse)

I'm curious, why do you do that Dopie?

sometimes if you turn the car on slowly like, from 1-2-3-start and not just straight to start aftermarket items will shut off--I used have that issue with my fogs, parrot bluetooth, and ipod adapter.....not sure if its the same case for dopie but I used to do that. Everything is fixed now so it works fine.
Also sometimes people will leave the music on loud then forget to lower it so that when they start up the car in the am they get a nice loud blast of music lol......

Okay, I can understand why now, thanks:glasses:

Its always best to start the car with as little strain on electrical components as possible. I would imagine that if you had the A/C on full blast the music turned up/bass knob to 11 (aftermarket subs) and all the lights on the car might not fire right away. Like everyone else is basically saying it is best to start the car with as few electrical components running as possible

I've noticed this sometimes, but not consistently. I drove an '89 RX-7 and at stoplights, the tach would jump up and down alot. If it matters, that was a manual.

I had a 1990 honda prelude and when the EGR(exhaust gas recirculation valve) would stop working it would rev up and down on its on from like 1000 to 1500rpm. Thats 14 year old technology though. Im not sure if the VQ has that but just a thought.

In my 04, when I start (turn key all the way on) the music starts at low volume and then automatically increases to the level I had it on before I turned off the car. So no loud blasts even possible. I thought all FXs had this feature?
