Engine Oil Dipstick stuck

Hello. I am not new to IS. Although this is my first post, i have been here for a while. The search on this site works great and I have been able to find answers to my questions with the search until now. I just finished an oil change on my 07 FX45. I put in 5 quarts, started the engine for a few minutes then off and waited about 15 min to measure the oil and see what the level is. However, I can't because the dipstick is stuck. I tried as hard as I could with no luck. I twisted the thing and it will twist back to its original position. Could I have pinched the dipstick with the drain plug? Have you had experience with this issue?

Thanks

On my G the dipstick got stuck too. When I was changing the oil myself I kept pulling it in and out to make sure there was oil on it and it got stuck in the hole. I ended up grabbing it and twisting it until it popped out. The dipstick is long so it could get caught on something in the hole.

Mine has been stuck before also, but I twisted it and pulled really hard.
hmmm... or I twisted it, then as soon as it unwinded, I pulled really hard and it popped out.

Thanks all of you. Well, I spend about an hour messing with this and finally the plastic handle broke off. As a last resort I used a pipe cutter to cut part of the top of the dipstick tube so that I could grip it with a vise grip after a while the piece of dipstick also broke. I am not sure what else to do other than take the car back to the dealership and have them replace whatever needs to be replaced.

Thanks all that replied.

Yeah I don't know. I did add the extra oil that night. I knew it was more than five I just like to start measuring once I have 5 qts in. I am a little paranoid sometimes. I will try that again. My car is going in for the dashboard replaced on Monday so I will ask them to look at that as well if it does not work. I still love her, but lately she is making me spend more money on her. She better deliver

Really, "she making you spend money on her"? Its an 07. I hope it was just routine maintenance and upkeep

Yeah, well. Not that much. But this dipstick stuck, and replacing the main windows switch control its going to cost me. On the bright side my bubbling dash will be replaced under warranty. The dipstick and dipstick tube, that's another story.

Wanted to post an update. Dropped off my car this morning to get the dashboard replaced and have them look at the dipstick.

The service manager called me and they could not either get it out with some needle nose pliers. It seems they will have to drop the oil pan and get it from underneath. I am being quoted almost 1000 bucks. This is crazy. :eek.:
