Hi all, Just wanted to know what are bolt size is as i want to buy some dress up bolts/color washers for my engine bay...Can someone kindly confirm if they are in fact M6 10mm bolts.tks a lot.

It's M6x1.0 thread and the length varies. I bought a kit w/ 25mm length bolts and they work for all the places I put them. But M6x1.0 should cover the plenum, fenders, headlights, and most misc. places. I think the radiator support is M8, but I never did this.

I think meme has gold dress up kit on his fx

Sent from my SGH-M919

Yeah I do.

Both these pictures are old now, but I still have a few left to replace, but except for the 4 main support bolts they are all m6x1.

Oh nice, thanks. So these simply replace any of the 10mm bolts in the engine bay then right?

Yup, and they do absolutely nothing worthwhile.

A hilariously useless way of spending a couple hundred bucks...

The truth is the Engine Bay of these things is a massive money pit.

^Something like this. With all the polished goodies, and fully tucked, your looking at upwards of $10,000. If you can do the work yourself then you can take your time and save a lot, but it's all custom work, and it all costs a fortune.

The other funny part about it, is the incredible work you are creating for yourself, in terms of maintenance, cleaning, and general headache. Many of these guys delete so much stuff, that it makes their cars absolutely unuseable as a daily.

I myself have now deleted my windshield washer bottle and a few other items, and stripped out a lot of the wires and streamlined it, but eventually I stopped because I am not prepared to delete my A/C and stuff like that.

I followed that build on G35driver.com It's pretty ridiculous, search JDMCain on there. The crazy part is, there are guys who took it even further. There are insane details like grinding down all of the superfluous bits of metal on the plenum so it all matches then polishing. Or having an upper cowl where the wiper holes are filled in (not just wipers removed).

I think the craziest FX bay by far is Rookie's. No one else has even come close.

Yeah there is a lot of guys running bays similar to the above now.

I love the detail the guys get into, I had a lot of the brackets, ground down on my timing cover. I am eventually just going to pick up a cosworth Plenum, and pull the engine out of my ride to do the transmission and engine bay work.

For now I am happy with my engine bay until I clear some other stuff I want to get done first.

I remember Rookie saying he would sell the FX if someone wanted to buy it.

I laughed at that thinking how I could save so much time and money if I had just done that from the start.

But for me doing it, or even just planning, and getting the work done, and seeing the progression is all the fun.

I'm digging that strut tower brace with the titanium ends/neo chrome :smile-big: The painted black parts on the front of the engine can those just be pulled off and painted???

The strut bar is ARC and $950 plus cost to burn. The intake is $800. And the front painted part is the radiator support. You can pull it off, but it involves taking off basically your entire front end.

Last year I started some of this stuff. Tucked some wires, painted some stuff, added a few parts. Then I decided since I don't do shows anymore like I used to, there wasn't any point. Polished parts look great but the upkeep is irritating. And I don't pop my hood enough to make it worthwhile.

No theres like four small spots on the front of the actual engine that are painted black. I've been wanting to paint it but not sure if something will leak out if I pull them off. Where the pulleys and fan belts are.

For the price of the stb and cai I can get me another set of wheels to add to my collection, lol.

Excuuuuuuss me....?!?! LOL (kidding )

As mentioned on the PM Dragon i bought a kit from Gallery Fresh for a Z and picked it up from there. You will most likely end up with more then you will mount in the bay.....cause these kits always come per 10 pieces or so..... buy some sets and start mounting....or do your homework in advance and screw some loose so you know what you need at the location you want
