Did i damage my FX!!

Tonight I cam home to park in front of my house and when parallel parking I was talking to someone in the passenger seat and wasn't paying attention. Long story short I was wanting to pull forward and forgot the car was in reverse and I floored it up on the curb and ran over top of this rock thats about 4 inches high:bomb:. I didn't damaged the rim or tire at all. Just some scruff on the tire from the rock. I slammed on the brakes really hard after I realized I was reversing and while slamming on them I heard a pop sound. I don't have any clue what that was lol. Maybe the brakes?

You think I damaged the car? The curb is about 1 inch high but I ran over top of the rock which is like 3 to 4 inches high.

Doesn't sound like u did damage. The fx is high enough for u to crawl under and look for things being damaged.

If its damaged it will be clear to see..

I think that pop could have come the tire running over the rock, not the brakes.

As turtleg said the fx is pretty high. Maybe the pop was the rock moving out of it's place from the pressure of the tire. Double check the sidewall of the tire for any deep gashes.

High profile tires, steel suspension is pretty hard to bust,. If you were moving about 20mph your car will definitely go out of alignment. Test drive it for pulling, also jack it up and inspect around it

Well, I doubt anyone here can tell you anything since we aren't there. I would get a flashlight and go look underneath, but I doubt a rock that small would hit anything. I've ran over rocks that big and just barely hit my gtspec braces and I'm much lower.

I don't think you damaged anything either. I would say the pop was just the rock slamming against the curb or rolling around with your tire on it. Very slight chance it could of took a gash out of your tire and wouldn't hurt to check the tire pressure or see if there is any damage to it. Highly doubt it messed up your alignment too.
:: Off topic but I kinda did the same thing too last year. I was backing in a corner spot in a parking garage talking to my girlfriend and I backed into the cement wall. Wasn't bad or anything but my stomach dropped and I was like wtf ? We have back-up camera's for this so there's no excuse. All it did was put a tiny scratch on my bumper and my left Invidia exhaust tip :smug:

lol funny guys! But seriously though I'm afraid I might of ruined something related to the suspension. I checked the tires and rims and no marks at all. Just some light scuffing on the tread of the tire from where I hit the tire on the rock. By the way this is the back right tire. Tomorrow when I get up under the car what should I be looking for?

cracks in the suspension

+
might also check the tire balance weights if any went missing, not sure if our fx has hyrdo bushings or w.e u call it, but check for bushing that may leaked, such as subfram bushiings

Aaron, I really don't think you damaged anything. Heck you only drove over a 4" rock and slammed on the brakes. There is no way that shoulod damage your ride, if it did it's time to make a switch.

Lifted it up today to check and nothing looked out of the ordinary no cracks, damaged, or anything like that. Drove it around all day and no wierd noises from the suspension and no alignment problems. Guess I'm good to go!

Only reason I was worried is because I've seen people hit curbs pretty hard and knock it out of alignment and bend the control arms and stuff like that. Guess you have to be driving pretty fast for that to happen. No marks on the tires or rims either.
