DDM Tuning

Yup I've started noticing this too. I bought 6K kit a long time ago and it looked like 8K almost. I'm not buying DDM products no more. I'm sticking with Morimoto.

Use to be. I have Morimoto ballasts now. Cost $150 compared to the crap DDM $30 ballasts but you get what you pay for.

I'm using the Morimoto kit from theretrofitsource.com in my fogs. They also make hid kits too, not just headlight stuff.

Right about the HID kits, but Mori actually has H8 6K bulbs for our fogs? I never knew that and can't find them on their site. Only H1,H3, H7 and H11.

I've read somewhere before that those were photoshopped.

Also, I've read posts that DDM will stop selling HIDs soon. They will focus on other products.

H11 fits in H8 that's why. I modified the notches a tad bit and it fits perfectly.

Phillips also sells extremely high quality H8 HID fog light kits too. I was going to buy those but their another $50-$100 I think.

^ Oh wow, thanks for sharing that info. Maybe you can add some pics and additional info to the Morimoto thread we have going on? I think I will definitely get the H11s then. Ok, back on topic now, lol.

I think you can actually get away without messing with the the notches too. The bases are both identical.

Ive been satisfied with my DDM products, but honestly of course quality wise they do not compare to OEM or morimoto at all. However, they do get the job done, and have lasted me a year before I (not ddm) mistakenly broke a bulb removing the front bumper. I replaced it with a new pair and they both match perfectly.

The two pairs of 6k ive had match 95% with the morimoto 6k headlights. In pictures, they are bluer than the morimotos but in person, they are a good match. Customer service was good - even though i broke the bulb and explained to them the situation they expedited my order and it arrived promptly.

Im not saying the allegations are false, and the pictures of the bmw with the ddm coilovers is quite frightening in fact. Both sides are probably right to an extent. Lastly, whoever wrote that allegation should try using spell check next time.

I'm leaning more towards someone having a grudge against DDM (by the "quality" and structure of this report.) Seems like DDM has a good rep between the BMW guys (DDMs biggest customers) so I'll rely on that. For $40 an HID kit that will last me a year I'll be happy. Besides they offer lifetime warranty, and I believe one of the members here posted them honoring it when his ballast went out.

My ballast went out, they looked up their system from 2008 to find my order and get it replaced. Their customer service is pretty good. For $40 for an hid kit that has a lifetime warranty...show me another brand with a cost/value that matches this.

"HID BULB IS ILLEGAL FOR IMPORTING SO THEY MUST SCAM..."
- Yes importing hid's are illegal...and has been for sooo long. Which is why they say its an "inspection lamp for stone mining machine" How do you think all the other brands get over here? Murimoto, Hella, PIAA, ALL the importers of HID lamps with thte exception of Philips who are OEM. How can anyone have an issue with this? There would be no HID kits out here if it wasn't for the "misleading" practices. We would all have to retrofit stock applications into our foglights.

"DDM TUNING COILOVER 100% RETURN RATE"
- I guess all the blown Eibach guys should get together and say 100% return rate and show pics of their blown springs....blown out of proportion.

3000K 4700K 7000K 12000K
-It's a cheap bulb, its going to have some fluctuation from the manufacturer. I have been pretty happy with ALL of my sets of lights. I have had one set on my Mazda 3 that lasted 4 years before I got rid of the car. My Mazda 6 has had a set now for 3 years...no issues, and I recently bought another set for the fogs. My FX has 6k headlight bulbs, and 2 sets for the fogs (3K winter and 6K summer). The color for the most part has been right on. Although my 3k's look a little off but I have been to lazy to contact them to get them exchanged.

This really sounds like an upset customer, unfortunately he has been able to spread the word on the internet which can spread like wildfire.
