Just got my freshly minted, first pair to hit the streets in the USA, rear DBA 4000xs slotted/drilled rotors. This bad boys will be matching the front set which I got late last year. Unfortunately the FX50 rears were not mfg to proper specs so none were avail... until now! PN DBA 42339BLKXS

Love the fronts and can't wait to get the rears installed along with my Hawk pads!

A story post about the new rotors w/pn: http://blog.motovicity.com/?p=6043

Thanks! Yeah I decided to give orange a try. Wasn't thrilled at first, but it's growing on me. I'll post a wheel/brake shot here in a bit.

You don't have any issues with the rotors cracking around the drilled holes?

---------- Post added at 08:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:43 PM ----------

How hard are you braking? I've wanted to get drilled rotors but I drive hard and I'm nervous about spending the extra money just to end up with cracks.

Issues with drilled rotors cracking are either from rotors drilled after mfg (ie by users) or poorly built rotors. At least that's my understanding.

I'm definitely not worried about these cracking. If they do I'll be asking for a refund ;) I think that if you buy a quality rotor that was drilled by the mfg you should be fine.

As for how hard am I braking, well I'm not sure how to answer that. I don't brake harder than necessary or intentionally hard. Normal driving.

These DBA brakes are designed for extreme heat and are a better alloy than on cheaper rotors.

I wouldn't worry about cracking, it's not really common at all. These days almost every drilled rotor has a chamfered edge on the hole which prevents the stress risers that lead to cracking. You can almost see the beveled edge in those pics. Even cheap rotors these days have the bevels on the holes. I've used drilled rotors on every car I've had since 1998 and I've never cracked a rotor. I've used everything from no name eBay rotors up to Brembo and Stoptech and haven't ever had an issue. Right now both my cars have R1 rotors which are pretty midrange and they're fine. I live in the city so it's all stop and go and pretty hard on brakes. In addition, I tend to drive aggressively when I can and get on the brakes pretty hard. I've warped rotors but haven't cracked one.

On the other hand, drilled rotors are purely for looks. That's the only reason I get them, there is no additional performance.

A quick update on performance, wear and general results of the DBA rotors. In short these things rock. The fronts now have close to a year on them and the rears about 2 months. No warping or vibration which compared to factory is a nice welcome change. They still look great too.

Will see how they are doing further out but so far I couldn't be happier with these rotors.

I now have about 5 months on the rears and 1 full year on the fronts. Zero warping (smooth as silk braking) and no noise. They stop great and still look brand new (no paint fade). Love these rotors!

DBA is high quality, I wouldn't worry about them. It's the other eBay no-name brand rotors that I would worry about cracking.

I've had the DBA 4000 T3 for the front and Yellowstuff pads all around for over a year. The rotors are awesome, unfortunately at the time I couldn't source the same rotors for the rear and installed a new pair of OE which suck and they're already squeaking. I'll be sure to replace the rears soon with the same T3 and will install Hawk HPS 5.0 pads all around; heard those pads are good.

You'll want to verify they have the T3s for the rear rotors. They had to make completely new 4000s for my car (the first made) but not sure if they made other models. In any case you'll like the Hawks as well!

I can't seem to find anywhere to get the front and rear DBA rotors to match. I see the fronts as drilled/slotted but the reads as slotted. Is there anywhere that u can get all four to match specially since envy where I check they appear to be on sale.

Sorry for missing the question on where to buy. I got mine from Autoanything.com. Note that the rears were specially made by DBA for my FX50 as the ones they had originally were sized incorrectly. The new part number for the rears is in the post above. I would verify with DBA that Autoanything is receiving the new discs before ordering.

Check on AutoAnything.com for the fronts and rears.

I need new rotors and pads for my sports breaks along with the brake hardware. Don’t know a good site to find them
