So, in honor of my 10,000th post, I wanted to share what I was up to today. After spring break a couple weeks ago, as I was driving away from the checkpoint going from AZ into CA my exhaust had a slight pop and then went from it's normal somewhat loud, to extremely I don't even want to touch the throttle loud. I knew exactly what was wrong (or so I thought :eek.:), I think I texted Will right after. I guess the FX was sad to leave AZ. Made for a great drive back up to school the rest of the way.

So we fast forward to today, finally got to go to Z Car Garage and get it checked out. Awesome shop, Z's everywhere from the 240/260/280Z right up to a 370Z prepped for AutoX. I think they took it for a quick spin, not sure why because you can't miss the sound when you start the engine. I kinda had a bad feeling in the back of mind about this, because it was a bit different of a noise from my leaking gaskets before.

This is what they found:

I think I'm going to get it patched up for the time being, but I think it is time to redo the whole exhaust with something less patched together.
Here's what I'm thinking as of now:

Cats: MD Art pipes
Y-pipe: MD XYZ pipe with the HFC attachment
Rear: Nismo mid + rear can

Thus the wanted sign, looking for a Nismo. They seem to be harder to find right now. Will won't sell me his, maybe I will check with Alan again. The MD stuff I may have to hit up Tony again and see if I can't get a bit of a deal again. I know he mentioned he might do a custom exhaust when I might him, so that's another possibility, but I like the Nismo and how it's set up with a single and what not.

That is all. :iS:

Nice 10K post man (aside from the unruly exhaust issue, nice pic) I like the plan for the new system though. With regards to Will not wanting to sell, you know where he lives and the Nismo is easy to remove, just make sure you soak the bolts for awhile. Maybe spray them down then go for a coffee and come back later (much later)?

Man alive...I'm not letting you yahoos know where I live...ever!

Hey, you think you might try headers Stu?
Very iffy on that. One of the issues is that I'd probably need a re-tune after the install, but as you can see it's something that needs to be done sooner rather than later. I can get exhaust installed for fairly cheap, but headers is another thing so I'd rather do that at home, plus the tune would need to be done there.

Congrats! Sorry about the exhaust situation, I was riding with a hole in my exhaust for the 4 month, waiting for a nice deal on used one. Finally got it last week:)

Lol, mine isnt as easy - I deleted the mid extension and its all 1 piece now. You'd have to bring a pipe cutter to get it out now...

Congrats on your 10,000th post Stu! I remember when I had a hole in my exhaust it sounded horrible kinda like a coffee can civic :( Good luck on your new exhaust.

A post-headers tune is good but you don't NEED one. I kicked around for a couple weeks after my install and my very closely monitored AFR never went into the danger zone.
