Chrome Wrapping my MK1 Audi TT

I couldn't decide on a color to paint and almost wrapped it in Brushed Aluminum but the samples had a dull look to it so screw it. I bit the bullet and bought 260 sq/ft of Avery Chrome, took my car apart, and had the guys at Spectrum Graphics do a house call. I did one day of disassemble, they did one weekend of wrapping, and will continue next weekend.
I had no idea how horrible Chrome is to work with. I bough samples from 4 different companies before choosing Avery and its still a pain. If you stretch too much you get stretch marks and discoloration. If you don't stretch enough you get wrinkles on the edges. If you mess up one panel you just lost $200-$300. Its nerve wrecking and i can't wait until its done.

Nice choice. Some peeps talk smack about tbe chrome, but I think you're doing it right.
I've heard that chrome wrap is 2-3 times the price. Must be mostly labor costs. It makes sense that you've got to get that even stretch.

That's going to look bananas when it's finished. :good: Probably won't be too much fun telling people to stop putting fingerprints on it though lol.

ahhhh the good old times when I actually had time to do things.

LOL I wish I had time to do it too. I had trick the Fiance into being busy while I snuck into the garage to take apart the Audi. On the weekend I had the guys from Spectrum Graphics come to my house to do the wrap while I was out at lunch, mall, and grocery shopping. The installer was sending me update pics that was drivig me crazy. I wanted to see it in person so bad.

I priced out 3M Satin white pearl and I think I was going to be $500-$800 for material and labor would be one full day. The chrome with special tools, shipping, and tax since it came from Texas was around $2,500 plus 3 long days of labor at $70 an hour.
I'm glad I'm friends with the owner of the graphics place because he helped me out a lot.
I know I'll have some haters out there when its done but I've wanted chrome since before the wrap. I even almost shipped my car off to get get it played with the Alsa Chromeing system. In the end it's my car so I'm completing my vision. Just glad this forum has such positive feedback. Thanks guys

There's only been a few people at my house since the Chrome started and I still find myself wiping it down all the time. Don't know why people's first reaction is to touch it lol

How do you wash this? Like normal?

It scratches easily so there's a special cleaner that keeps the chrome slick

That looks fantastic! I've always wanted a TT. Don't like the newer ones though. I'd definitely have one with this body style.

Currently working on little details. The wrappers will be back this weekend to finish up then I'll start assembly
Redid the headlights

touched up the red on the TT badge

Chrome letter Bagriders plate frame.

Floating dual gauges on the Accuair so i can see it from outside the car when the hatch is open and from inside the car. Didn't like the look of just the garge so i 3D printed an Accuair logo cover. Just needs some sanding and paint.

cut out the side vents on the rear valence and added the brake light. Now i just need to paint the light and repaint the back on the valence so everything flows together.

Dude, a little off topic but your signature pic really makes me miss my car white. I just wish i had done it right instead of PlastiDip. Looking sick man.

The wrapper didn't get a chance to come by this weekend but since the car is on jack stands i might as well take advantage of it. Since Hot Import nights is around the corner i added a few accent lights.
I know lights isn't everyone's cup of tea but its not like i can't turn it off when i don't need them.
