There is no way I would send my car through that. Call me what you want, just wouldn't do it.

No way, I would never go through a wash like that too. I'm concerned about the rails scratching the wheels, spinning brushes are a no-no and the employees using the brushes to clean. They toss those brushes on the ground and it picks up tiny particles that can scratch the finish of the car. If I ever dropped my washing mitt on the ground, I would toss it in the garbage before even wiping my car with it again.

I see those mop looking things picking up dirt and dragging across the paint constantly. I would be on the edge throughout the whole process. Truth is I enjoy washing it. Watching it slowly come back to a nice clean, shiny ride makes my day.

Yes am know this is bull shit, employeess wash first wheels touch sidewallk ,next wash the same brushes mask car and cars ewrithing all day use the same brushes ,am sey him dont touch my car, brushes only wheels .Hand wash is best am know .Who do this excelent perfect wash wax perfect in New York, Big Detaling is ok.

During the winter, if I have to go through an automatic wash, I find one where you park and the machine goes around you with power sprayers only. No brushes allowed to touch my car. Its not as clean, but I don't worry about scratches. :wink (2):

I'll leave my car dirty before I put it in one of those ....I pay 50 for a hand wash and wax and 30 for a wash and wax it mySelf if am up to it.

I prefer hand washing it myself with the 2 bucket method and sheepskin wash mitts and plush microfiber towels to dry. Everyone knows automatic washes = heavy swirling.

I use to hand detail cars for a living. You could tell which ccars were properly took care of and which we're sent through a cheap car wash. Those fine scratches that all go one direction....car washes with cheap plastic bristles.

Yeah, I only go hands free. Especially with black where all those fine scratches show.

I walk past other student cars in the parking lot and always notice the fine scratches across the hood that look to be in exactly the same motion someone would wipe it down in.

Sheepskin wash mitt? That stuff is great for sitting on but seems like it would be to harsh to use to clean a car with.

Yeah, there's a local handwash chain around here that wants to charge me $25. Because its an SUV. I asked the guy what screams SUV about my car,, thankfully there was a giant Excursion behind me. I said THAT's and SUV.
They all look like felons anyway, scared they'll try something heenkey.

Do you guys trust the car washes where you drive up and put quarters/tokens in, then switch the dial through all of the settings (soap/conditioning/tire cleaner/engine degrease/rinse/presoak/foaming brush/spot-freerinse) and you take the wand and wash the car yourself?

Or are the chemicals that they use in those car washes too harmful for the vehicle?

When I was younger and didn't know any better I would take those brushes and put it on the ground when I was done.. I imagine the small pebbles and dirt it pick up is not too good for the paint..

Hand wash all the way!
