Brake advice needed

I went to my dealership to have my FX serviced and they said I needed new brakes, front and back. They quoted the job at about $700. Is this worth paying for stock brakes or should I invest more and get a better brake kit? If so any suggestions for brakes worth looking into??

Stock pads seem to work pretty well. There are of course differing opinions but I think they are fine. A lot of people go with rotorpros which can be had via ebay and they are reasonably priced, but you would have to do the install yourself or get someone else to do it for you.

Damn dealerships! That's robbery

& they always say I need pads everytime I visit which isnt that often. Give us a measure of how much pad you have left.

I'm due for service soon and I'm pretty sure that my dealership is going to tell me I need new brakes.. What brand are oem rotors and pads??
I want to search and source my own pads and rotors cause dealership prices are insane..

Not too many people know the OEM vendors. I do have a strong belief that akebono makes our OEM regular pads. Rotors I have no clue.

Going with any big aftermarket brand should work nearly the same at slightly cheaper cost.

If u wanted OEM Nissan at cheaper rates, ebay or if this board has a Nissan parts Guy. They should get u cheaper then ur local dealer.

Dude forget that. Get the fx50 brakes akebono for your fx! It is for the front brakes! Alot of people loves it. I just recently got it. Still breaking it in. But so far I can tell the difference.

I cannot say that I have heard of rotorpros but StopTech offers direct replacements at a fair price and Hawk makes a good street pad - Performance Ceramics. They offer a decent bite with low dust, I currently use those on my Z32 with 4 wheel BBK and plan to switch my FX over to them when the time comes.

My turn to ask lol. i got a quote for 700 buxs for complete set of oem rotors and pads front back. worth it or go aftermarket? brand and combo? site to buy? Only thing that will kill me aftermarket is shipping will hurt...

Where did you pick them up at?

I am likely going with the R1 Concepts (Premium Cross-Drilled) front and back. Free shipping to boot. If you can do the job yourself, take the $700 and put it into something better than what they will install.

thats just the price for parts to do myself for 4 discs, and 4 sets of pads. why not slotted and cross drilled? and what pads?

im not sure which rotors i shold go with for r1 concepts. i love the look of the slotted and drilled rotors but is it easier to crack / pad and rotor ware is high?
anyone try r2 concepts with oem pads? which pads go best?

Hands down, Rotorpro! I did all four cross drilled slotted rotors with posi quiet pads for 275.00 shipped to my door. They work great! i couldn't be more happy after 3 months and will buy from them again. By the way, anyone with basic mechanical skills can do the job...

Guys My knowledge about all this car stuff - is little to none - I read all the posts and have tons of interest but sorta have no idea lol - but my question on this is what is the difference between blank or slotted etc - and the stock ones that Infiniti puts on their cars - are they blank?? I thought I read that is what Infiniti uses

Ok for you guys talking about R1 Concepts. R1 Concepts gets all of their rotors from Centric. They just rebrand them. Centric subdivision brands are Posi-Quiet, PowerStop, and Sport Stop.

The Rotors you wanted... R1 Premium Cross Drilled, are actually Centric Sport Stop Drilled Rotor# 128.42092L & R. You can find them cheaper at RockAuto.com than from R1concepts.

Compare:
R1 Concepts (Premium Cross-Drilled & Slotted) Front - $276.21pr Rear - $177.96pr
Centric Premium Sport Stop drilled and slotted rotors: Front-$107.99ea ($215.98pr) Rear- $77.99ea($155.98pr) on rockauto.com

^^^ THESE ARE THE EXACT SAME ROTORS!!! Already had this discussion at length with another member here... save yourself a few bucks and go with Rockauto.com and the Centrics. DO NOT PAY R1 for rebranded rotors. You will get your rebranded rotors in a Centric Box! We both bought from R1 and we both received Centric boxes...lol.

Just trying to spread the word and help other members save a few bucks. If you do not believe me, go Centric.com and look at the descriptions....R1 copied them word for word.

Discussion of R1 vs Centric and the agreement they are exactly the same:
