Best Exhaust sound

Hi!! which exhaust system do you guys think is the best in sound, I like the oem sound I wanted louder so, I cut off the resonator but the sound break when I wot..

Cutting out the stock resonator usually results in a bad, raspy sound.

I like the Stillen exhaust sound. A little louder than stock and similar to stock, but you can definitely tell a difference at WOT. And it doesn't drone like a lot of exhausts can do.

+1 on that.. My personal taste is a sound that's deep but smooth at low range and race car style at the high range.. Fortunately, I think I got that from my exhaust.. It still becomes a little metallic occasionally when it's cold at low temps but I love it. Other than that, these are my favorites in order:

1) HKS Legamax ( I like how deep & hollow the sound is. It's not excessively hollow and has a good "I'm here" tone to it)
2) Nismo (Has the deep growl that HKS doesn't have and is loud.. Maybe a little too loud for my taste though)
3) Stillen (without headers it's nice, with headers, it's reminiscent of my APS but has a different tone. Very nice overall but I think it needs a little more character)

Please consider my current semi-drunk state with all the comments..:laugh:

resonator delete is typically okay on an I4 or V8. V6 can drone pretty bad.

I like all the aftermarket exhaust, but like the HKS the best (which is why I got it). NISMO sounds awesome, but too loud for my tastes.

There is another exhaust - Invidia Q300 exhaust that's out there. So far not too many people have it yet. However, two forum members: gordonfx1975 (FX35) and myl168 (FX45) have it. Do a search and you'll find they each have a video with revving sounds. You can compare those with the other exhausts that's been listed and see which you like the best.

The Invidia exhaust is a true dual exhaust using an X pipe. The Stillen and HKS (I believe) use a Y-pipe, so basically exhaust from both banks join up after the cat. I don't recall for the Nismo. Also, since you have a 45, your options are a bit more limited. Most of these exhausts were developed for the 350Z or G35, and so the manufactureres could easily adapt them for the FX35. I'm not sure if the 45 owners who use Stillen or Nismo have to do some sort of custom modification...perhaps they can give you a bit more insight.

Invidia full cat back

Taiwan? post some pics, you must have some other goodies on your car that we don't have!

Will the 350z exhaust rear section fit the FX models. Or cat back for that matter.

Any sound clips to any above mentioned Exghaust systems?

-Im glad you made your 10th post
hope to see you here more often

just listened to some youtube clips for our fx45 exhausts and heres my rank from best to worse:

1. stillen
2. oem
3. invidia
4. flowmaster
5. hks

its amazing how the oem exhaust sounds fanstastic already and hks sounded horrible, just my opinion.

haven't heard all of the others, but, i wouldn't trade my flowmaster for anything.... the videos do it absolutely no justice. it depends on what you're really looking for though.

hmmm...i'll see if i can find a nismo on an fx45 clip then revise my list!

definitely true...the position of the camera in relation to the exhaust does play a major role in how the sound clips come out.

also my list is how i'd prefer exhaust notes at this point in my life, if it was 10yrs ago and i was still a mini-ricer w/ fast N furious dreams, i might put the hks on top...who knows.

This is my 45 with the nismo. I don't know why you did not see it on youtube or the infinitiscene youtube channel for that matter. Anyways. here you go.

sorry still new (somewhat) to this site, didn't know infinitiscene had a youtube channel...i was just surfing and clicking on random vids at the time. also i'd like to scratch that list of mines at least until i get a chance to listen in person...from some of the comments i get the feeling a live sound is diff than what some of the vids portray.

did get a chance to watch n listen to a few nismo vids tho...very nice!
