well seems i spoke too soon about the autoillumination LEDS.. One side is still looking good (only about 2 weeks) the other side is about all burned out.

they started out with -36 LEDS one is down to about- 8 LEDS now

about to see if they will replace the ob=ne that burned out so quickly but not expecting them too :(

Im having a bad experience with the autol. bulbs too. I purchased two of gold star ones (fourth one down http://autolumination.com/194.htm ) They worked out really well intially, liked the color and the coverage of the light. But one of them had fitment issues with the base where it would flicker a lot and eventually went out. So I ordered five more total, one exchange and the other four to replace the rear sidemarkers and to have as extras. Customer service was good, returned the defect and some other returns and they credited paypal very quickly. So now im running four goldstars in the rear and they work for about two days. First the right side license one goes out. So I replaced it two nights ago. After replacing that, I noticed the right sidemarker is out too but was too tired to change that one. So I check this morning, now the left side license plate is out, wtf! So both license plate bulbs in two days and a sidemarker light. 3 out of the 5 bulbs are bad. They worked for about a total of maybe four hours drive time over the past few days. I dont think I can keep doing this. I think im going to go with a different vendor. Can anyone else recommend another vendor or site? Im about to try the ebay ones I think or just try a local autozone or something. ive wasted like $21 just from shipping from autol where they wont refund for that.

I think im going to order these instead:

eBay seller is NS-FX. I actually prefer these type of leds, the actual wedge with a bulb or multi-bulbs like in the pic. All of the autolumination ones I had bad experiences with are the SMT, SML, surface mount leds which have flat lighting surface and not the bulbs. I could be wrong, but I think those bulbs are just lousy.

Im going to wait and see what other people may chime in with before I order from this seller.

I learned my lesson and I swapped mine out for PIAA leds. I've had them over 2 years now without any prob. They are a lot more expensive but they won't burn out

mine have been awesome.......no problems whatsoever...did you plug them in correctly?

Only one way to plug them in and get any light output... you plug them in the wrong way and you're trying to reverse bias the diode, and since 11-14VDC is nowhere near the required reverse bias voltage they just won't do anything. No harm, no foul!

My left reverse led is getting a little dim... and I recently replaced both of my reverse housing... Both of the leds are cracked in the same area on both!

To flying and omega,

are they also from autolumination.com? If yes, are they the surface mount leds or normal bulb ones? Trying to figure if there is a trend of the type of bulbs we are buying.

yup all of my leds are from autolumination, i have the parking lights, reverse lights and license plate lights. one of the license plate lights is a little brighter than the other but its barely noticeable and has been like that since day 1. never bothered to replace it.

I have the same problem as Aero,I purchased two of gold star ones (fourth one down http://autolumination.com/194.htm i put them on when i got them they didnt even last me 2 days and the both went out. I call them to let them know and the guy was very nice and sent me 2 replacements. same thing happened. both went dead after 3 days. i didnt bother calling. they are still out now.

I am not really happy with autolumination. Their returns are quick, but what sucked was over the course of a few orders and replacments I had to pay for shipping. At $7 a pop, I spent $28 alone just for shipping, which really sucked. I assume some of these bulbs you purchased were used for the license plate bulbs? I searched on ebay and got 10 non smt 4-leds for $6 shipped and they work and look great. i actually just ordered the 6-led bulbs too on ebay, because im hoping they will be a tad brighter. But getting them on ebay is that way to go. 10 bulbs for $6? cant beat that.

I just installed my bulbs from autolumination last night. License Plates lights = dead. I haven't called yet because I am going to double check them tonight.

Well, my reverse lights were out too so I took out all four and figured something out.

Here's how they showed up:

And they didn't work as the above picture shows. But I bent the leads outward as the below picture shows and they do work. For what its worth...

Good luck.

I just emailed autolumination to replace these defective bulbs and this is what they said:

"I am sorry you have had a problem with your lights.
You are using the wrong lights for your license plate application. You need to use the 194 superstar with heatsink, not the goldstars for that type of constant on application. The superstar with a heatsink will hold up better for you.
Our warranty is against DOAs, but does not cover long term unless the optional warranty is purchased from the website at the time the order is placed
What I can do though is offer you a 50% discount on two replacement bulbs. I do need those two back though in order to do that."

I went over to their website again and saw the bulbs that I had ordered originally (goldstar) and the description says that these leds have "metal heat sink for constant-on application." Not only that, their 194 light bulb section clearly states "License Plate Application..." This girl is not making any sense.
