Backup Camera Indicator Lines Missing

I just picked up an `08 FX35 last night. The lines on the backup camera are missing. I get a fine picture, but the red/yellow/green indicator lines do not appear on the screen.

Any ideas on how to get these to display again?

None of the sales guys at Infiniti new what was going on, and all the techs had left for the night.

I know there's a way to acess the setting I just can't remember if the setting were here or on the org.

I just searched infinitifx.org for all occurrences of the word "camera" along with either "lines" or "indicator" but I found nothing.

My search skills might suck, but maybe I'm just searching for the wrong word combination? Or I missed the post that describes it.

That looks like what I need, but I can't seem to get into the diag screen. Audio off, hold Settings and spin the volume knob... Nothing happens. The screen just stays on the Settings screen.

I think it might be different for '06-'08.

Try the mute button and then the 4 button, but not settings since that is for the 2nd gen.

I believe you have to play with it bc i think I had to press a different button prob mute like stulax said

I do not have a Mute button, but Rpt/Rdm instead. But I got into a similar menu using 4. It did not have all the selection options listed in that thread linked above. In one photo, for his, his menu shows:
- Display Diagnosis
- Vehicle Signals
- Speaker Test
- Climate Control
- Navigation

Mine is missing Speaker Test. Under Display Diagnosis, I have only two options - something about Color and Gradation. I went through all the menus, and did not find any way to control/adjust the camera.

You keep looking at that thread, which references the 2nd generation, so yes it's going to be different. That's why I keep telling you different buttons.

Did you not look in the normal settings already?

^^^ Take it to the dealer and have them do it if you can't figure it out... should be free.

I tried....it's not free after I think he said 1 year. Adjustments or whatever are only covered the first year or so....similar to batteries are not covered the whole 60,000 miles 5 years, it's actually prorated. I had mine replaced 100% covered, but just made it in time.

My dealer wants I think it was $220 from what I remember for it. I guess it's very labor intensive for them as they have to tape out lines, adjust all the angles, etc.

If your dealer can do some quick adjustment, then that's another thing.

This isn't the same issue - My backup camera is completely black - This worked before and just stopped working last night.
It seems that a couple of people experienced this and replaced the entire unit. Is this correct? This is a $400 part and I'd rather try to fix it rather than just replace it.

Any help is appreciated (sorry for the thread jack)

I think that the link I gave you for was for a diagnostic test. U simply press 4 and turn the volume button and diagnostic pops up. I did notice that after ip pops up and you go to confirmation/adjustment and press 4 again and turn the volume it turns into Confirmation/Adjustment (with detail). Sorry bro but I could swear this is where I found the setting for my backup camera once but I can't seem to find it now.

[/COLOR]Actually bro try this link that I found
http://www.freshalloy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144570

It's for the Infiniti QX but it says while u have it in reverse hold the setting buttons and you can adjust Contrast, color, brightness. I tried it and the setting for that pops up. Hopefully that can help you out

StuLax, I did try other buttons, as I said. All that I could find by searching for such a thing, and the other button combos mentioned in this thread. I keep mentioning that other thread because it shows steps and menus, for an 09 I know, and I've said that I have gone through all the menus.

Ocall, I'll take a look at that thread in the AM, thanks.

Worst case scenario, the dealer will do it, but if that happens I'll have a couple more weeks without the camera - something very useful given the visibility differences of this vehicle.

I don't have the indicator lines either... Never knew they were there...

Reverse + Settings mentioned by Ocal21 allowed me to change the color-related items (which is now much better) but still no lines.

This is weird. I was inside 4 different 2008 FXes when shopping, and mine is the only one that doesn't have the indicator lines... And Sir21's...

Well, just for closure in case someone else has this issue, the dealership said that they have to replace the Camera Control Unit. I'm glad I don't have to pay for it...

Way to go. I think the 04s didn't have the lines to begin with. Can anyone prove me wrong?
