Anyone opened up their headlights? Melted parking light lenses

How is that little lens attached in the housing? It looks like it could be separate from the main front lens. It seems that I will need to heat up the headlights and open them up, but it looks like there is a screw(s) in there that might allow for just that part to be removed? Everything still works, just a bit melty.

I never seen a factory bulb do that. Are you using any aftermarket bulbs in the housing? If you never used any aftermarket bulbs take it to the dealer and it would be replaced for free under warranty.

Do you have adaptive headlights or are they regular non AFS headlights? If so I know where you can get a cheap used headlight off ebay on good condition.

The issue I am having at the moment is getting the headlight assembly out. I haven't found a DIY for removing the bumper from an 09+ and I don't have the service manual. I am not opposed to hacking a fix for now (cut part of the lens out or something) but I won't know what I am dealing with until I get one of the units out.

Ive seen some first gens open the headlights and remove the lens because they were running hot cree bulbs. Maybe you can just run the lights w/o the parking light lens?

I will more than likely end up opening them up and fixing them. Even if I find another set I will still open up the old ones for science. I try to post some pics when that happens. I have to keep the car on the road the next few weeks so I don't have time to take out them out right now and futz around.

Well, I won that headlight so it will give me something to open up and do some experimenting on. I think it went for cheap because it is fairly well stripped and too far broken to be used as a direct replacement without significant repair. Since I am really only interested in the lens pieces I am not too concerned.
