Airbag off passenger is on even nothing on seat. Buckle up sign on as well for passenger . Help !!!!!

But if someone will seat on it and drive and buckle up airbag off light goes away after a minute or so. But if person leaves the seat airbag off light will come again. What is wrong? Anyone had it? Disconnected battery overnight didn't help. Anyone on 2nd gen experienced this????

isn't it supposed to be off when there is no passenger in the seat though?

if it's not working right then either the passenger occupancy sensor needs to be re-calibrated or further diagnosed at least... passenger occupancy sensors can go bad, seen it on a few cars

Normally it should do the following:
1)You start car
2)Airbag passenger off light goes on for a few seconds and goes away

My case is here
1)Start car
2)Lights goes on and stays
3)Passanger buckle up lights comes on the dash

but if someone sit on a seat and i start up car lights goes off the way it should and offcourse buckle up sign goes off as well,as person does buckle up :bomb:

I tired to disconnect negative battery trying to reset it. No luck. I tried to do airbag light reset procedure, still nothing.

No ideas here...looks like a trip to the dealer is in your future.

I did do nav mod. So i did cut speed sensor wire and wire a switch to it.
Do you think if i take it to do airbag repair, they will see i was messing with wiring behind nav radio????

Is splitting wire will void my whole car warranty? Or just will void navigation warranty? :confused.:

i had the same issue after doin the nav aux mod do an ecu reset but when doin it , you have to be precise on timing to work

I did disconnect battery overnight? Does it count as ECU reset? Or no?

If not? What are the ECu reset procedure for 2010 FX35?

Magnuson-Moss Act is your friend =)

As long as your wiring work didn't directly damage or cause the airbag malfunction, you should be fine.

I doubt cutting a speed wire would do anything with airbag or grounding a parking brake.
Or can it? :embarrassed:

This works only to reset flashing AIRBAG light on the dash.
I did these steps after my AUX NAV mod.

But this thing doesn't help with AIRBAG off light :frown:

some cars I've worked on the occupancy sensors are at the bottom of the seat tracks & are like little electronic weight scales, they respond to the weight of the seat. if you have anything under the seat and then lower or move the seat onto it, it might cause it to see a difference.... I'd try raising the seat & poking around under there make sure nothing fell under there jamming anything up... also try going all the way up then all the way down, bounce around on the seat a bit... if nothing helps then it's going to need diagnostic equipment

Thanks. Will try to play with it tomorrow. I hope it is not due to my NAV mod

Same thing happened to me !!
Passenger air bag light stayed eliminated. I was going to try to do that re-set procedure myself but decided to bring it to the dealership to get it checked out. They re-calibrated the passenger air bag system to "0" and it went away. Told me light stayed on cause someone/something below 60lbs was on the seat and somehow the system stayed at that reading so the air bag light stayed on. Told me normally it would take some time and re-set it self..

I was having the same prob just sins yesterday night.. But I just did the long steps and it worked :)

You mean the 7 seconds with start and shutdown Air bag reset procedure?

It did reset the flashing airbag for me,but not the passanger "Airbag off" light
It still always on.

Going to dealer on friday. Let them deal with it. I think my sensor is stupid. I had this issues since day one,and they always call it good. Or sometimes it magically fix itself when i wanna show it to the technician. And comes back on the way home :mad.:
