7 Speed Transmission Re-Flash

With Infiniti releasing a Re-Flash for the 7 speed transmissions used on the generation II vehicles I called my dealer yesterday and made an appointment to have our FX re-flashed this morning. I arrived at 9:30 and was re-flashed and had a car wash and on the road my 10:30. The tech said he thought the re-flash made a big difference. Well I also think it makes a big difference. The car downshifts easier and it seems to have crisper shifts. I would highly recommed having your 7 speed transmission re-flashed, it was worth the trip to the dealer and it was of course free.

I brought my car in for reflash, and guess what... Their computer is down, so I have a crappy white G35 loaner now. I am not hating on the G35s, i know they are nice cars. But mine STINKS and it is DIRTY!

I am unclear on the reflash. My local dealer has no idea about it. How do I tell the Service Department to locate offical information on it? How is it referred to?

thanks.

Have your dealers check this Technical Bulletin:
Classification: Reference: Date:

He'll be able to download it and re-flash your car. Thanks to the moderator for deleting my other post.
Hope this helps,

Gameboy: How long did you drive your new '09 before you had the reflash done?

I only test drove non-flashed versions about 5 times. One time for an hour.

The one I bought already had it as it was a June production date, when the flash was built. I haven't taken it in and verified but I don't think I have too... I am impressed with this trans that I have now. So much better than the others I drove.

So you never drove your new car for a week or so, and then had it reflashed. Got it. But what specifically do you think the reflash corrected?

The reason I ask, is that my dealer wants to verify I have difficulty changing gears between 3rd and 4th and then they will do the reflash. Seems odd to me, but my car's transmission just seems sort of 'searching' at times, which I thought was enough to warrant the reflash to consumers.

To be honest, I don't have a problem with the transmission's 'feel' in my '09, but my car came out in the first shipment, so I am sure the trans needs the tweak.

We took delivery of our 09 in August 08, so it was one of the first out. I don't know why your dealer is looking to hassel you over something as simple as a re-flash. So play the game didn't I hear you say your transmission down shifts rough between 4 going to 3rd? And doesn't seem like it searches for the right gear at times? Sure sounds to me like you qualify for the re-flash. It might be time to discuss your failing transmission with your sales person and the general manager.

Please read my comment on the other thread concerning the 7-speed transmission. Performance improved ten folds after the re-flash.

I had the opportunity to drive a little over 100 miles today in our FX which was re-flashed this past Saturday. Sure shifts smoother over-all both down and up. Passing gear seems more stable and the computer doesn't have to hunt for the correct gear. I would highly recommend this particular Tech update.

I just got my car back today. So far, it seems just smoother, not more aggressive. When I have a chance to drive it on the highway, I will update my post.
