305/40R-22 tires on a FX35 anybody?

What size wheels do you have? 40 is tall for a 305. I ran 305/35 in rear for a while, but that may rub in front. I've heard of people running 295/40 all around, but I haven't seen 305/40.

Are you lowered? They will probably rub. I think Shadow had that sizing before or something similar.

Honestly, I cannot remember the wheel width. I think they are 9" or 9 1/2" wide. The are Zinik wheels, purchased them way back in 2008. I am not lowered. The good thing is the tire shop will do a test fit for us. If they don't fit he will return them.

If you are at a 9" or 9 1/2" wide wheel a 305 tire will look very 'bulged' on it. Might want to recheck that before putting the tire on. The very smallest wheel width I would put a 305 tire on is a 10 1/2" wide wheel. Just my $0.02.

Hope it works out though...

295 x .45 = 132.75
305 x .40 = 122
265 x .50 = 132.5

So it will be shorter than stock at least. I would be more concerned about that wheel width though.

nvm 22" wheel makes it different.

It's a 22" rim though, so that's over an inch taller than stock.

And OP, a 305 on a 9 or 9.5" rim is going to look really bulgy. It will fit, but it will look funny. I ran one on a 22x10.5" wheel and it had a slight bulge.

Thanks for the info. I will have to wait and see at this point. I wouldn't mind a little bulge. Was hoping for something a little wider. Current tires are Toyo 285/40-R22 and they just look to blah. I once had 285/35-R22 and they looked good but too much fender gap. I didn't want to lower it.

When I got my 22's (9.5's) they came with 305s. They had a lot of bulge. I went down to 285 & it still bulged, but much better. It was very apparent on the inside of the rim. Dont do 305 on that wheel

285's

You can see how these are too large from the inside

Toyos run small, so you can get a meatier look by just swapping to a different brand. You can google which brands of tires run larger, but Pirelli's are big and so are Michelin. Found this on another forum I frequent, but this will give you an idea. Both tires are 295/30, only difference is brand. Bridgestone on left, Kumho on right.

305s. Hard to believe they stayed on the rim. & yes Pirellis are large.
Dont go this large. They were already on the wheel when I bought them, so I just ran them down. Looks unsafe, so I was lucky

sick, huh? :)
& these were sold to original buyer by Globe on LaCienega. Lame! For $5K!! I saw the invoice.

** BTW, I'm giving up these nice 22's soon in case anyone's interested

Are those 305s pirellis?? I was thinking of going staggered with 305s in the back...but mine are 22x9.5s and that doesn't look good :/

What about 305/35 22s on a 9.5 inch rim...will it still have that bulge??

Man really wanted that staggered look in the back....what can I go for if I'm keeping my current 265/40 in the front...I'm AWD so need to keep
the circumference close??

This makes almost no sense if you wanted staggered why the hell would you buy square 9.5s?

You can't just start wrapping the same width tires with wider rubber. Maybe 10 or 20mm, but you can't just wrap them in 60mm wider tires. The tire won't have anywhere to go. Read the manufacturer spec on tire rack, it states what the proper rim width for any given tire is. I can guarantee you a 305 section tire is not within range of a 9.5 wheel.
