Hey guys. Now that I got my BC coils in my FX35, I think it is time for a BBK. The options I have are...

KIDO bbk: 8piston front / 6 piston rear I believe they go for like $5k

AP racing: 6piston front / 4 piston rear go for $6k!!!

D2 racing: 8piston front / 6 pistons rear $6k

Akebono BBK: $1600 for the whole kit including braided lines/ rpf600 fluid on conceptzperformance.com

Now the real question here is are all the aftermarket bbks over $5k worth the advatange over the fx50 upgrade??? I am probably never going to track my car, but I do take it to the canyons often and drive mildly hard. And for the BBK do I have to cut the dust shields in the front and rear? And would these be just straight bolt on after that? Leaning towards the Akebono and I have 22s that will clear all of these :) Please let me know your opinions on all of these. Thanks. ( OHH and has anyone bought the Akebono upgrade off of conceptzperformance? Let me know how it went and is $1600 a good deal for everything with centric slotted rotors, nismo pads, braided lines, and rpf600 fluid?)

Get the akebono's, their the best bang for buck for you by a mile.

I went crazy and bought the Kido's, they are very nice, and could probably alter the earths rotation if I stomp hard enough on them, but they ain't worth 5x the price.

will i be able to feel a difference right away with the akebono?

Night & day with the akebonos. I went from regular qx70 to akebono qx70s just for the more responsive brake pedal. Big difference. I also wanted the extra horsepower, wheels & seats so those were just extra perks.

I agree with meme405, I went with Kido simply for looks. I get compliments all the time on how awesome they look but there is no way in hell I need all that stopping power. I just wanted the biggest bbk that would fit but for the price you pay Akebonos are way to go no doubt.

I used to have the JBT BBK on my first gen and look wise it was great but for the second gen fx I have now I'm going for the akebono kit bc don't want to spend aLl that money when it comes to replacing the rotors and pads rather spend a few hundred bucks replacing the stock pads and rotors then three times the amount for the JBT kit rotors and pads.

Good combo

Not sure if the FX35 dust shield is large enough to accommodate the rotor that goes with the Akebono kit. Pretty much anything rotor larger than your factory rotor, you will have to cut/trim the dust shield.

I can definitely give you a better pricing on Ksport or D2 Racing BBK's.

Akebonos will work just fine, as others said.

looks like im going with the akebonos. i was thinking of going with centric slotted rotors and the nismo pads. and the ss brake lines of course. anyone have experience with these? and how if the rpf600 fluid?

All good stuff you mention. Another option, may be cheaper, is ATE 200 Gold.
Centric is parented by Stoptech. May be the same part . . but maybe not. I would just do Stoptech sport. They're not to much bank.

Can you post a link of the Nismo pads? Curious on specs & who makes them.

here are the nismo pads. these are the ones in the nismo 370z and are actually cheaper than stock pads with the package im getting and ive only heard bad about the price. they provide good bite , long last, are pretty, and produce minimal brake dust

just go with the Akebono - the difference is not worth the price for the others, and if you want to sound "cool" you can say they are Akebono BBK when people ask instead of saying they are factory Infiniti upgrades ;)

As for pads I also need to change mine soon - the OEM FX50 ones were sort of sloppy this last brake change, thinking of going with the Nismo ones myself...let us know how they are. I may change to sport rotors for the hell of it as well but depends on the price I can get..

If you decide to just upgrade your rotors I would seriously consider the DBA 4000s. I LOVE mine. They look great and after a year plus they are still looking brand new and stop smooth as silk. Best upgrade I've done to the car. The factory rotors suck :)

I made a post with the correct part numbers. If you are interested I'll look it up and link it later.

Edit: Here's the link. https://www.infinitiscene.com/searc...otors-now-avail-for-front-AND-rear-FX50s-2009

So you think I also would need to replace the dust shield when replacing my rotors for the fx50 rotors?
