2012 Infiniti FX35 Limited Edition Detailed Walk Around

God I love that paint lol

Some things I noticed Infiniti cut costs on compared to the 2009-2011 models:

Quilted leather stitching on the seats isn't standard anymore. You have to get the deluxe touring package to get it which means it's not even optional on LE models

Steering wheel leather is fake now. Infiniti use to use real perforated leather wrapped on the steering wheel. On 2012 models they changed it to some pleather like material.

Seat movement buttons they don't even print the directional arrows on them anymore?? They left them blank

No more standard padde shifters. If you want them you have to get the FX50s now.

I also noticed the leather on the seat feels cheaper. It's not soft anymore and has a hard texture to it.

Aluminum pedals aren't standard anymore. You need to get the deluxe touring package or get the LE model to have aluminum pedals.

These are some observations I made when I sat in a 2012 at the dealer show room.

I think to save on costs to have the power liftgate added the cut corners on alot of other things.

Steering wheel leather is fake now - very surprising....no idea why they would do that considering luxury is all about nice leathers.

I really like the new instrument cluster as well. Small subtle changes like the white information center and white needles versus the previous red ones.

I thought that has always been the case? One of the items included in the sport package that made it the S (along with the susp, seats, etc).

I certainly love them though, so glad I have an S. :smile (2):

Interesting...I actually thought it was a big bummer they changed it. I think the red ones with the blue and the white pop out much more especially at night comparing to G sedans with just the white. I think the new ones match other cars more so now.

Did you have an earlier 2nd gen FX where you spent time with it?

Yes actually spent a lot of time driving my wife's 2010 FX. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about here is a rough photo depicting the differences:

In 2009 models paddle shifters were standard on the fx35. Even if you got the base model.

I still like the older one much more. Here is a better comparison with both in the picture

All the Fords have all white like the new FXs and just not a fan. I felt like that was a step backwards. :(
