What does the bulletin say to correct this? I ended up with a new a/c compressor...is that the bulletin to do?

Yup

Not too sure what has to be done. My paid subscription for service bulletins expired :disapointed:

I notice when driving with the AC on and I coast at a low speed the compressor makes a slight whine or hum noise. It sounds like I have a supercharger. Didn't really bother me nor did I think it was a problem, but this service bulletin says it is. My neighbors 2nd gen does the same thing. Also all the G loaners I had make the same exact noise but they came out with a bulletin for the G's a long time ago.

I'm pretty sure there are updated parts listed in the bulletin for the compressor.

I started hearing this about 2 weeks ago and thought it was my imagination till I was standing out of the car then actually heard it kick in. I just ignored it cuz it really didnt change anything or bother me too much but now I know its a known issue, thanks.
Oh and also I got a pm from a member whos also on the Org explaining the "cause and cure" for the idle stall everybody complains about. Ill probably post a thread to put the info out in a few and see what you guys think.

On mine I don't hear it outside that much. I hear it mostly when I'm driving.

Next time drive with the AC on the whole time. Then when you get a chance drive slowly through a parking lot and let the FX coast. When you do that it makes the AC making a whining noise like it has a supercharger.

Thank you for posting this. I have the low speed whine and was going to have the dealer look at it at my next service.

I prefer having the bulletin info to give them as well, so thanks!

I had my FX in for servicee last week. The tech confirmed the noise and that the TSB applied. Ordered the replacement hose (I don't know which one). Well, the dealer got a whole bunch of replacement hoses anticipating doing numerous FXs, and the hoses are bent wrong and will not fit. The dealer has contacted Infiniti corporate to find out what the solution is going to be.

I was assured that while the noise isn't normal, it won't damage the A/C unit in any way. I'll keep you posted.

So I got a call today from the service manager. This TSB applies only to the FX50 right now. That is why the compressor hose doesn't fit in the FX35; it's a different compressor. No one can tell me what the new hose does differently. Dropping the car back off Thursday to have the shop foreman check the car himself and maybe get Infiniti Corporate on the case to expand the TSB if necessary.

They did fax me a copy of the TSB and it specified FX50 only.

I thought that was normal guess ill have them look at mine on Monday when I go in for my oil change .....

Yep, that's it.

My FX is at the dealer now. The TSB doesn't apply, so they wanted to check the A/C system thoroughly. They can't find anything wrong, but agree the compressor is noisy, so they are in the process of putting a new compressor in right now. Should be done by the end of the day. Hopefully it quiets things down.
