9. REMOVE THE LOWER SHOCK NUT/BOLT WITH A 17MM SOCKET.

10. REMOVE THE OLD SHOCK.

11. WE NOW HAVE TO REMOVE THE MOUNTING BRACKET FROM THE OLD SHOCK; I DID NOT HAVE THE PROPER TOOL FOR THE 19MM NUT SO I USED VISE GRIPS. VISE GRIPS TO GRIP THE NUT AND A 7/32 ALLEN WRENCH. (DEEP OFFSET BOX END WRENCH WOULD OF CAME IN HANDY).

***PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE METAL TAB ON THE UPPER SHOCK MOUNT PICTURED ABOVE. THIS TAB MUST FACE OUTWARDS WHEN ON THE CAR, SO MOUNT ACCORDINGLY ON YOUR NEW SHOCK.***

12. TAKE THE NEW SHOCK AND ATTACH THE SUPPLIED BUSHINGS AND OLD BRACKET USING A 19MM SOCKET (OR VISE GRIPS) AND THE SUPPLIED ALLEN WRENCH.

13. INSERT THE NEW SHOCK ASSEMBLY INTO THE LOWER MOUNT AND COMPRESS THE SPRING SO YOU CAN INSTALL IT ONTO THE UPPER MOUNT (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE UPPER PAPER TYPE SEAL INSTALLED). THE LOWER MOUNT NUT AND BOLT USES A 17MM SOCKET AND THE UPPER USES A 12MM SOCKET. TIGHTEN THE LOWER TO 66 FT/LBS AND UPPER TWO NUTS TO 22 FT/LBS.

Nicely done, makes me think I should give it a try or at a minimum print out your DIY, give it to the shop and say "do it just like this".....

Thanks all... I will have more pics this weekend.

I haven't really drove the car that much yet so I can't give a great review, but from the short drive I took yesterday, the ride was similar to my eibach setup. When I adjusted the dampening settings slightly the ride got a bit smoother. Going to drop it more this Friday.

----------------------------

On the install I actually felt the rears were a bit harder than the fronts, The fronts only took me 30 minutes per side with hand tools. The rears were a bit harder only because of removing the upper shock mount and mounting it on the new BC shock. I could only use vise grips and the allen, it would of been so much easier if I had a deep offset box end wrench.

Great job. I'm glad you were the reviewer of the coilovers, my review wouldn't have been as detailed=)

Once you pick a ride height, interested to see what your alignment specs are.

Just reviewed the write-up! Excellent job. Is removing the brakes necessary or simply dropping the arms will be enough. Thanks...I've never had to remove the brakes during a spring install so just asking. Great work!

awesome write up... now if i can only afford to buy those coilovers... btw - do all four calipers pull out the same way?

Wow made it look easy haha...NICE!!!

How much did you get the coilovers?

Ive been looking around online and i found some for $1000.00

There are a couple of threads dedicated to different manufacturer coilovers in the wheels and suspension section as well as a few vendors selling there here on the forum. Check them out for pricing.

la_fx35 and I did the install on my FX last night. We did not have to remove and rotors or calipers at all to do the install. It was a little tight, but possible. Other than that, this is very thorough write-up!
