whats up guys getting my fx painted and wanted the body shop to paint the bottom plastic trims below the bumpers but they say they cant because they paint will chip easily. Was thinking of getting it vinyl wrapped instead in a gloss black or carbon fiber wrap. Have any of you tried vinyl wrapping the bottom trim?

Personally, if they say they won't for that reason, you need to look for a new shop.
thanks for your input Eothain how ever they have stared working on it already so it will be complicated going that route. This shop was recommended by a family member.

i've asked a shop before, they told me it's just going to take extra prep work to get the plastic smoother

what lower trim, didn't sand it? How is it sticking to textured surface? Show us pictures
I suppose I jumped the gun replying. He meant the matte plastic on the lower rear bumper. I was talking about he lower chrome on the doors

I scratched up that plastic on the doors by accident, so I took plastidip and I painted it black.

Matches the other black plastic perfectly. In the photo it's right after being sprayed, but after a few days of driving around and getting it a little dusty, it evened out.

Wasn't hard need a couple specialty tools. But I didn't want the matte that you get with plastidip since I already have the emblems and vents dipped.

Do the handles while you're at it. The 2nd gen rear door handles pop right of with a torx wrench (t30 for all 4 doors), which can be accessed through a little port hole covered up by a black sticker/plug on the inside of the door. the front passenger side is the same, but you'll have to wrap the handle while it's semi-attached to the door because of the electronic access button. The front driver side is similar to the front passenger, but is a little more tricky since you have the same access button and door key assembly (wrap both while hanging off the door).

that was the plan but they're a complex shape to avoid wrinkles. Skills need dialing in

Prestretch it first and you won't have too many problems. Make sure you buy enough to redo it if the end result isn't up to standards.

Here's a close up of mine:
