Having trouble deciding what wheels for my White 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL550.

It's down to the 22"x10" Brabus Monoblock S or the 22"x10" HRE TR105

Brabus - respected brand for Mercedes, custom made for car. Hyper silver, one piece cast wheel (NOT forged), so much heavier then the HRE.

HRE - I dare to say one of the top, if not the best, custom wheel maker. Matte black, one piece forged.

My car is white and it's the newer model with AMG body kit so will look a little different, but these are photos of the wheels on another car:

HRE but keep them in a lighter color, black just hides all the details (and kinda played out IMO).

I like the HRE's and I agree with Soon, I would get a gunmetal color instead of black so you can actually see the wheel.

thanks - the wheels are used so matte black is the only color option and don't want to spend extra $$ on painting them.

I'd get the HRE's in a heart beat, but I also agree, you can't even see the matte black wheels on the car - which is why I'm considering the Brabus too.

Id say the hre's! They look soo much better on a white car especially when theyre black or dark gun metal like rip said. Gives it such a perfect contrast!

HRE.... But there are better choices. Why are you looking just at these two?

I'm one of the ones that picked the Brabus because I don't like the matte black wheels. If they were a different colour then my vote might be different.

New set - Brabus are $5,000+ shipping, HRE's are $9,600 + shipping -- primarily why I am sticking to used!

I'd always stick with Forged if I can so I vote for HRE. Pricey but definitely worth it. Please also check to see if they're build specifically to Truck load. I realized that not a lot of wheels manufactures build their wheels to safety standard. Hence one of the reason why I'm sold by Rennen because they're R&D in house and build to spec. May be a bit pricey but safety comes first.

9K+ for a set of wheels, and here people complained that I'm selling my set of Monoforged 22x10.5 for 3K is expensive. lol, I'm literally giving them away.

Good luck OP and let us know how it goes.

HRE, the Brabus look very 90's. Which they probably are, they've literally had the same style of wheels for decades now. You can always have the HRE's refinished, you can't change the dated design of the Brabus.

Yes, that's about the price of one wheel for a whole set=) The used market is tough! Good for buyers, bad for sellers.

I'm glad you brought that up - I had another set of 22's for my GL550 and returned them because I found the load rating wasn't enough when I checked the GAWR on the door sticker.

This happened twice, when I ordered a set from tirerack and they quickly sent me return labels as they clearly don't want a lawsuit on their hands.

For those that don't know - check the load rating that is stamped on the wheel, if not contact the wheel company. Take the GAWR (the heaviest, whether front or rear), divide by two. The load rating should be equal to or better yet, higher than the GAWR/2 of the heaviest axle.

The Brabus and HRE are fortunately both made specifically for the GL so the load ratings exceed.

I'll have to look into Rennen. Do you have a sales person you use? Maybe I do go new and not worry about anything and I can get the color I want.

The details of the hre from this pic, winner! (the other choice of wheel is pretty dated and kinda ugly too)

HREs. Apart from weight savings, I think they looked better. The Brabus looked so OEMish to me, typically the Hyundai. Not a fair comparison between the Hyundai OEM but to a casual observer, it may look rather close enough.
