Need opinions

So I just did the handle cover mod and color matched them and plastidipped the chrome trim on the bottom of the doors. I really like how it looks but at the same time I've been debating whether or not to color match the whole bottom trim to the majestic blue pearl color. Any opinions or has this been done before with this color? I searched and couldn't find any colormatched blue FX's.

Looks good. If you want to paint it, id go with gloss black. If you color match it, i think it would be too much blue. Out of curiosity im wondering how it would look if you color matched it to the color of your wheels.

Thanks. Here's a better pic of it from the side. Maybe I'll try to colormatch the chrome trim on the bottom of the doors and leave the rest black.

There are a few members that have their lowers color matched to their cars, most of which are lighter colors like silver or white. Me personally I agree with the others and would leave it the way it is. Besides, painting the lowers will not be cheap as they have to be prepared correctly and a more flexible paint will néed to be used. If not done correctly, the paint will crack and chip and once you commit to it there is no turning back. Leave it as it is, your car looks great now!

Personally I agree with a comment above to whether paint it gloss black and match it with your window / rear window gloss finish or to match it with the wheels. This is the route I chose when I painted my lowers all around. Painting it in the same color would simply make it too much.

I never thought about the gloss black. Thanks for the input guys! Ordering gloss black paint now and hopefully the weather wont be too bad this weekend. Will keep you guys updated.:good:

I love my painted lowers. Did it on my 2 previous black fxs then this current one. It's definitely not for everyone but It's a must for me on the 1st gens!

I personally like the way it looks color matched. More like a car and less like a truck. If my FX wasn't black, I would have color matched the trim, but since it is black, I can't justify the expense when no one would notice.

Another vote for color matched - I've seen a few and they are all nice - classier than the plastic panels. Also agree that it has to be done right to look good and last - a full disassembly of all the plastic for paint is needed. The plastic itself is not a challenge for any decent painter. Preparation and the correct paint mixing rules all.

I've never seen one done in a gloss black trim but I can see how that would look nice on a darker car like yours. All the blacks on the car would be matching and the whole car would seem more coordinated, I think.

BTW - your FX looks awesome. Love the way it sits right now.

Started with the lower bumper trim. Need to buy some more paint to finish off the fender trim, side skirts, adn rear bumper.

was just looking through your garage for bigger pics of the matched trim - first, very nice! Second, do oyu have any pics of your matched trim of your black FX's???

Looks really good. Out of curiosity, did you just buy the custom mixed rattle cans? Or how did you paint the piece?

I definitely want to paint my fender mouldings.

Yeah there's a paint shop in town that color matches really well. So they just mixed the paint and put it in a rattle can for me and then I finished it off with SEM 1K clear. The color matched paint was about $20 bucks per can.
