Those of you who who have LED headlights/fog lights, what made you choose them over HID? Conversely, the same question for those of you who chose HID over LED?

Obviously I'm contemplating upgrading my external lighting. I'm looking for some experienced thoughts and opinions on what makes one better than the other.

I don't think anyone has led head lights. led fogs look bright but don't shine on the road well. I am sure most have hid headlights and fogs since they are the brightest and shine on the road great. led fogs are ok but usually don't match the hid headlights very well. Hid is by far the best route to take for looks and functionality

I noticed far more folks here with HID vs LED and I knew there had to be a reason for it. I'd still like to hear from someone with an LED setup.

I just switched to LED fog lights, and to be honest, kinda disappointed. Thought it would have better light output, but can barely tell they're on! If anything, they're just for looks and color matching. I had HID fogs before and they were much brighter, but light was more scattered. Probably gonna just go back to halogen fogs, something like the PIAA's that'll match my 5500k headlights.

I don't think there's a way to run LED headlights aftermarket right now. They're so focused with no beam spread that anything you put into a projector housing would have no output. If you look at the OEM LED headlights on Acuras and Audis, notice there's a ton of little LED's, it's almost like a spider. That seems to be the only way to get enough output from LED's right now.

Morimoto 3 Five H8 for Fogs are the way to go. LOVE mine. Best investment ever. I chose the 4300 because I prefer the stock more natural light, blends very well with the headlights to fully illuminate the area in front of the car.

I have experience with both and in my opinion as stated above go with the Hid as the led is more of a cast of light rather than a beam. On my dual sport motorcycle I installed led fog/spotlights it lit the road signs and stuff up great but did not really offer that much useful light. I since switched to hid and it was literally night and day difference.

LED looks 'better" / cleaner but does not output as much light.

HID is much brighter and much more output, but you still get that glare look in the Foglight housing.

Best thing to do is to see which you like better.

HID is where it's at. I saw a few cars using LED fogs this past weekend and realized that they were horribly blinding. So while the light that LEDs cast appears slightly more crisp to the person who is losing their eyesight facing them at the stoplight, they're not of much use in illuminating the road in front of you.

LED set ups are great for non-focused applications like interior/brake/parking/signal lights.

Check me out answering my own questions lol.

I have an experince with LED light but dont with the HID. LED ll be much eaiser for installtion, just plug and play ( cost me about 240$ with labor) while the HID had to more work, wiring, transformers. Liked how it is looks and how it lights ( think it is a new Tech of LED fog light). only, had to grind its casing littile bit to fit in my fx35. ll share some photo later.

Man those headlights look beautiful on that orange fx....
I have 6000k leds in my fogs. They seem pretty darn bright but
havent seen a comparison to hids yet. Im gona try to take a pic of the light output
one of this days.

Yeah. The trim and blacked out headlights with angel eyes really makes it pop. I'm seriously bugging over here checking it out. You need to post some more pics!
