Hey everyone. I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of Matte Graphite Vossen CV4 22x10.5 wheels, as well as an AP Racing BBK. I do not want to use spacers under any circumstances, nor do I want to stagger the wheel size. I want to have the widest tire possible that will place all tires flush with the body and be able to accomodate the increased width of the AP calipers. I have not installed any lowering springs at this time and I probably won't go that route until there's a way to achieve spec camber measurements. Also, mine is AWD.

I may be overthinking the BBK fitment, since the the CV4s will probably provide more than enough room.

With this configuration, what are your opinions on offset and max tire width? I plan on going with Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetricos when it's all said and done.

Don't know where you are located, but you do know that really wide tires (especially up front) are prone to hydroplaning right?

Either way any 22" wheel that's 10.5 wide will easily fit the AP BBK without any worries. as for tires you need 295's.

Vossen doesn't do custom offsets, so they are going to send you either ET27, or ET45 wheels. So you won't get flush without spacers.

Consider going with a higher end set of forged wheels if you are going that wide and don't want to run spacers. It will cost you more, but you will be happier in the long run with the fitment.

Thanks. I was thinking along the lines of 295 max but I wasn't quite sure about how far it could be pushed.

Man, I had my heart set on the CV4s.

Thanks waketripper. I saw a guy roll past with a set of those not too long ago, and I've been lusting after them ever since.

Fair enough, Vossens are great looking wheels, but they are on the low end of the "quality" spectrum. At the end of the day they are just cast wheels. Which is generally the cheap way of making wheels, and they have much less strength than forged wheels, and also weigh heaps more.

Vossens claim to fame is the hype, and marketing behind their wheels, their designs are popular, cause they look good at a relatively cheap price. Most non-car people eyes would bleed at the high end wheel prices, we're talking upwards of $5k easy for forged monoblocks, you can get into the 10's with multi-piece wheels. In contrast to that vossens run about 2000-2500 bucks, which seems like a good deal until you start to look at other cast wheel prices which are closer to the 1000-1500 dollar range.

Get whatever you like, but don't be fooled into thinking that your getting anything remotely "high-end" with vossen, its like comparing Micheal Kors to Fendi/Prada/LV/Chanel.

Vossens are ok wheels, I'm not a fan of them. Expensive for no reason and just hyped up and marketed right. Other than that they are the same as any other cast wheel. Basically just paying for the name. Out here in Cali, everyone is rocking Vossens left and right, from Hondas to BMW's so It just got old to me real quick.

I am not worried about high end and I'm doing this for purely aesthetic purposes. I don't drive competitively and I'm certainly not trying to break any land speed records. As far as other wheel manufacturers go, I'm always open to new suggestions, but I happen to be particularly drawn to the visual style of the CV4.

In the end, the price of the wheels are irrelevant; you go after what appeals to you the most. CV4s, until further notice, appeal to me the most.

Feel free to show me something similar. You never know, I may just change my mind! :smile (2):

If you want a real great looking, quality wheel Forgeline is a great brand with many options and will build to spec. I have personally dealt with them on my Z32 and they are a great company hands down. Here is some of their line for reference: http://www.forgeline.com/products/concave-series/

BTW, happy to see that since you are going with a larger wheel that you are doing the brakes as well. Most people do not realize the additional stress a larger wheel will put on the braking system, that is unless you get a quality wheel that will minimize the additional unsprung weight.

Good luck and post pics when you get them! :)

If you don't plan to lower your car, get +27. It will be more flush especially since you don't want spacers. It will also give you more brake clearance. If they're concave as Vossen says, it the lower offset will give you a bit more clearance. On my 1st gen, concave 10.5" wheels hit my front Akebono calipers at +35 offset.

If you like the Vossen CV4, just google split 10 spoke wheels. That's really all they are. You'll find tons of choices from cast wheels to high end 3 piece forged. Nothing wrong with Vossen, they're just meh for all the hype they put out. It's irritating to see them advertise low pressure cast wheels as "monoblock". Technically it's true, but it's misleading as most people assume monoblock is forged. FWIW, Vossen doesn't make their cast wheels. They're made in Asia by Lenso. Look up the pricing on Lenso's own wheels and see if Vossens are still worth it. Now they do say they make their own forged line, but they're based in Miami just like 50 other forged wheel companies so who knows how much manufacturing is actually in house.

I like the design of split 10 spoke wheels, but I don't like the way CV4 spoke just sort of end on the barrel. There is no transition on them, it just sort of looks like they didn't know what to do so they cut it off.

Thanks RAGTPZ.

I'm looking for something classy, but not too classy. Racey, but not too racey

To me, the VSF1s are a great design to start with. They're very nice, but look like they belong on a 7 series BMW. The CV3s are also sharp, but the 5 star style is a little too in-your-face for my likes. The CV4s are the perfect balance between the two - clean lines and sleek styling, aggressive yet reserved.

agreed! ive got 3 people that run vossens on my street...

Wow! Now THOSE are some nice wheels! A set in black matte would be awesome! Bookmarked their site for when I get home tonight.:good:

AP Racing Radi-CAL BBK = purchased!

I found a set of forged 22x10.5 ET42 wheels that are near identical to the style of the Vossen CV4s (silver shown, Matte Black is my preference):

I'm assuming that I will have plenty of room to accommodate the caliper width on my OEM 21" wheels. Can anyone confirm fitment? I plan on picking up a set of the Niches in a couple months so I need to figure out if I'm going to need spacers in the interim.

Only way to confirm is to test fit the wheels. Every wheel is somewhat different so unless someone has those exact wheels and those exact brakes, it's a guess. But usually, you're going to need to run a spacer with OEM wheels. You'll probably also need a spacer if the wheels you're getting are a +42. That's pretty close to the hub especially if it's concave.

What model wheel is that? You say you're getting Niche wheels, but that picture is of an MHT. MHT is the parent company of Niche, so same thing.

I mentioned that OEM wheels might need a spacer. Can you get a template from Stillen? Most BBK's have a template you can use to measure wheel clearance. Download it, trace it out, and see. Better than finding out after install.

And those are nice wheels, much cleaner than the Vossens. Actually forged as well.
