I know I have seen other fx with their red lens on their bumper black instead. What is best thing to do. Paint or tint them? If u paint them I assume the reflector part of what they are made for won't reflect anymore? 1c3017aef74318b75dba142f822838d1.jpg

Thanks everyone. zebra555 nice fx. I just checked out your other post. I had no idea 3m made a reflective film. Just what I wanted, the black look without loosing the reflective properties of the lens. Not for nothing but the fx tail lights are not that bright in back so any extra lights or reflective does help.

I will purchase the same ones. How did you pop off the lens to do the work? Just pop off with screwdriver?

You can do it with the lenses on the car, I didn't remove mine. It's easy to just tuck the vinyl between the lens and bumper.

You have remove the bumper completely to pop those reflectors off. There is a screw that holding it from behind that you cannot get to the screw without taking the bumper off.

You can also just tint them darker with taillight tint, I did my friends car and my own vehicle with Oracle's #2 film. Left is done, right is stock:

At night when headlights hit the reflectors they still look identical to stock.

Thank you the tint also looks good n is good if it's still reflective at night. I do have some tint leftover from when I did my work truck. Maybe I will try the tint first. If it doesn't come out good I like the 3m reflective vinyl.

Thanks everyone for all the input

It's not that much work to take them out, it takes a few minutes.

go to bluebatmobile.net / email Bluebatmobile@san.rr.com to buy pre-cut vinyl for the reflectors. (he also has other vinyls for fog lights, etc) Go with TINT because you still want reflection for those times you're parked in the dark and someone may not see you but for the reflectors (plus technically having no reflectors is illegal)

If you haven't taken the rear bumper off before, it can be a bit of a pain. And certainly more than a few minutes.

Also why buy pre cut stickers, when it is so simple to just go to lordco, or napa, or O'Reilly and buy a small piece from a roll.

The reflectors are square, and the edges tuck easily, buying pre-cut and waiting for dude to ship it to you, is a huge waste of time.

I bought a 24"x12" piece of tint, and I ended up doing the third brake light on my vehicle as well as both reflectors on two vehicles with that one piece of tint. It cost like 12 bucks.

^ :plus1:

Can't imagine how one can take the rear bumper off in just a few minutes. :smile (2):

:rotfl: Ok be nice now. If we gonna go that route, a lot of things from the car can be remove in a few minutes.

Just an update I tinted them today and it came out good. Thanks for the help f911477ffeccf10c797a2b91b8df7c48.jpg 046d3cd8b09522d032c5797ea8535004.jpg 76fefd38966a82d341b72f4c267bd1f7.jpg

Looks great Fx35ny. What did you end up using to tint it? I would like to do this as well. I have the same color FX.

Thanks I just used left over window tint film that I had, pretty much applied it same way as window tint, little difficult to cut since I didn't remove the reflectors and just tinted on car.... few car washes later and it's still holding up
