Exotich Uprev Tune Nismo

Hi, Fellow IS members, as you know last month I did my Uprev Tune and saw some nice gains throughout. I wanted to truly free up my exhaust system and this time I went ahead and installed 350 Z NISMO Stainless Steel Headers.

The install was not that bad, took about 4 hours to do. Front passenger and driver's side header bolt required mini-extension and swivel adapter for removal. The passenger side header bolt was a PIA to remove, it took a good amount of GODZILLA strength to remove it. The best part was that the steering column, did not need to be disconnected as long as the header is flipped upside down and installed from underneath the vehicle.

On the Dyno I gained approximately 5 more hp, and 5 ft-lb of torque. Don't let the Dyno numbers fool you. The car is much more responsive at lower RPMs, and now has a much more pronounced and deeper exhaust growl. I drove the car for approx. an hour after getting the headers and tune done, because I loved the way the FX wanted me to push her every time I hit the gas. This is by far the best performance mod I have done. For those of you that have a full cat back exhaust with cats, you gotta get headers installed to understand what I am talking about!

You can check out the video of the FX on the dyno here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LrNBLu6JMY. I will upload my dyno charts as soon as I get them from my tuner.

Factory header removed. Just by looking at the design you can see how restrictive it is.

You have such a sleeper. Would love to race you

O Wow! Did you DIY the header install?! How about a sound clip? Hopefully, you are enjoying the goodies you purchased from me =)

I did the header install with a friend. :struggle:We were both yelling and cursing trying to get the passenger's side header bolt off haha! NISMO caps came out real nice. A little mad that the STILLEN red logo paint came off when I got the STB. I plan on painting the whole STB red eventually.

Haha Thanx GTO! Would love to check out your sexy FX out as well. You already have an advantage on me being RWD! :skywalker:

So was the install for the Nismo 350z headers straight bolt on or were modifications needed to make it fit?

Headers are straight bolt on. The exhaust is where modifications are needed.

Nice work DIY'ing the install Exotich, makes it slightly less nerve wracking hearing others besides Tim have done so. Already started looking at header options...

Thanks MEME. I did a lot of research, before I got the headers. Basically narrowed it down to NISMO or Crawfords. Crawfords give you the most gain, but are a PIA to install. The motor has to be lifted to install the crawfords as they are very wide, www.crawfordz.com/support.htm.

It is not a difficult install, but it is a lot of work. Since the FX engine bay is bigger than the Z or the G, you have a lot more room to play with. As I mentioned before the steering rack does not need to be removed unlike in the Z, which saves you a lot of time. Make sure you have an air compressor, air ratchet and access to a lift!

Ok, if i were to purchase the nismo headers for the 350z and an invidia cat back system for 2008 fx35 would i run into any problems? Like would i need to modify any other parts or purchase anything else major? I have a friend with a full shop, lift and everything I can go to get installed. The headers sound amazing btw from the dyno clip.

Invidia CBE is a direct bolt on. I would invest in a pair of nice HFCs as well if you are getting headers, this way you will have a complete exhaust setup with no restrictions. Cheers.

Sweet mod. Love the tone. You should do a video on the road. I bet it will much more to the ears.

Thanks for all the info! One more question, i have been searching around for the 350z nismo headers and just wanted to know if there are different models or the 350z nismo r-tune one is the one that will fit? Thanks!

I have the regular s-tune NISMO Headers and they fit fine. Not sure if r-tune headers are for rev-up engines only. Don't forget to hit the thanks button... :marchmellow:

Your engine must love the free flow. Great job on the install, would love to hear it in person!

That feeling when you are cruising at 3000 RPM, then you have a sudden urge to pass the car to your right to get in the lane, when the pedal gets pushed the FX pushes you back and you hear a deep throaty VROOOMMMM. Next you notice in your left view mirror, the guy you just passed, has his head turned staring at your car, because he just shit his pants... :toilet:

Nah, you have the R-tune headers. No such thing as S-tune headers, only S-tune exhaust.
