What type of engine oil / oil filter do you prefer?

My FX warranty is up in November and since I probably won't be going to dealer as much for major work I'm thinking about at least doing my own oil changes after this next one which I'm due for now. I was just wondering what some of you prefer to use when it comes to engine oil and engine oil filters. I've heard good things about Mobil 1 and Royal Purple. I don't think I'm running synthetic now but I'm thinking about taking that plunge. Suggestions?
 
I would stay with these well known brands
Oil :
Top Tier- Mobil 1 EP, Pennzoil Ultra, Amsoil, Royal Purple (IMO Amsoil and RP are not worth the extra cost over M EP and PU)
Tier 2- Pennzoil Platinum, Mobil 1 (Absolutely recommend these or their higher top tier)

Oil Filter:
Top Tier - Mobil 1 , Bosch D+, K&N
Tier 2- Bosch , WIK, Pureone ( I use Bosch extensively and they run great....just below there top tier D+)

I was thinking Mobil 1 and a K&N filter, am going to see how easy it is to get the K&N locally.

I hear you, I use RP in my GSXR 1000, but I ride it like an animal. I just don't know if I want to shell out the extra money for it since once I use it, there's no going back lol.
 
As a newly minted 2010 FX35 owner, I went out and bought Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30 oil and a K&N oil filter. This is a monumental moment for me as this is the first time I've ever used synthetic oil.

I used to drive a 2000 Accord. I'd use any oil as long as it had greater viscosity than olive oil and whatever crap filter I could buy on sale. Purchasing Mobil 1 and a K&N filter is a huge leap!

I'm presuming you get your filters from a dealer? How much are they?

I get them from the Dealer, but I have no idea what the going price is right now.
Believe it or not, I have had 3 oil changes at Infiniti Dealers this year and I never paid a cent, for Mobil 1, filters or drain gasket.

You just reminded me about the drain bolt washer. I guess I'll get them for the FX. Can you believe I've done 17 year's worth of oil changes on various cars and never once changed a washer. :wink:
