Whining noise

What's up guys. I have been noticing this whining noise when I'm at idle. I throw it in neutral and rev it it'll go away and it will come back again. Also when I shut my car off I hear a noise as if there's a cat in there meowing. I replaced my belts and I changed my idler pulley on the a/c side. Noise is still there. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

AC running? Turn off the AC and blower fan to eliminates some obvious noises. Do you hear the noise when the radiator fan is off?

I would try to listen to the alternator. If you don't have a Mechanic's Sethoscope, use a couple of socket/ratchet extension bars stick one end on the the alternator housing and listen to it with it near your ear to see if any noise from it.

Did you run over your girlfriend? lol
Well maybe ur low on power steering fluid, or ur pump is acting up. It can also be ur tensioner, or even a vaccum leak.

c'mon guys.. the guy is asking for help..
anyway OP, cat meowing in the engine bay? now that's serious pussy power.. :smile (2):
but seriously, does it go away when you engage it in gear? the sound not the pussy.. ( last one i swear :smile (2):).. worst case, your transmission bearings are going out.. had the same problem on my old '03 g35.. whines when on idle, when engaged in gear, the sound is still there.. hopefully it is not.. long story short, dealer replaced my transmission ( on extended warranty ) and the sound went away,,

OK so I looked into it more. I found that I don't have a hose attracted by my throttle body. I got the plenum spacer with the Cooper iso. One hose is attached on the tb copper part. Underneath it is another fitting that is completely empty no hose attached. But i dont see another hose that is loose is there suppose to be a hose there Could that be what's making the cat noise sorta like a vacuum noise. As the car is shutting off it's sucking in air still

Those iso thermal spacer kit has two male hose fittings on the spacer and two T-connectors that need to be installed in the coolant line. To properly install the kit you should check out the instructions on the motordyne site.

I don't got the one that you need to cut out the hose. I got the one that goes directly on the tb. There's one hose connected on the copper part and right underneath on the plenum itself theres another fitting that has no hose attached to it.

Unless you're leaking coolant all over the place, you're fixing a non-problem. The coolant lines (the ones that connect to the spacer and plenum near the tb) wont have any impact on your whining noise. The noise is almost certainly an air leak. Make sure you have intact gaskets on both sides of the spacer.

Yea I'm not leaking any coolant but was gaming a guess maybe it's sucking air in from there. I do got gaskets on both sides of the spacer but the cat noise I hear sounds like a vacuum air leaking. As far as the whining noise at idle replaced my idle pulley on the power steering side today and it's still there. Belts everything is tight. I put the stethoscope on the left hand side were the spark plugs are and the noise seems to be high on that side then anywhere else. Can't figure it out

So I changed both idle pulleys and belts nothing happened. Took of the belts cranked the car noise is still there so I know now that it's nothing to do with the belts and pullies. The noise seems to be mostly coming from underneath the car right I'm the middle of it. Could it be a tranny problem. Checked my tranny fluid it's up to it's level and clean. Any ideas anyone.
