Damn it. I just read that I'm not suppose to use Windex on tinted windows!! I just washed my windows with it.

What product do you guys use then?

I use Stoners glass cleaner. You should not use any cleaner that has ammonia in it. Just get a glass cleaner that says safe for tinted windows on the label.

if you used it on your factory tinted windows u should be fine. i believe the factory tints are inside the glass not on top.

Err. I cleaned both the inside and outside of my windshield and windows with Windex. But only one time. Glad I found out now.

And I did it to my wife's car too. haha. She'll kill me if it turns purple.

Time to buy Stoners.

I use Rain-X glass cleaner formulated for tinted windows. For my computer:

I think it depends on the film brand as well. I cleaned my tinted windows with Windex on my previous ride for 3 years in a row, no issues at all. I had Lumar film installed. IMO only the cheap film will turn purple.

Stoner's Invisible Glass is the best and it is the easiest to use in my opinion, foams and leaves no streaks. But, Windex will not hurt quality window tint. Good tint has a clear protective layer made from a form of PVC that is resistant to scratches and harsh cleaners including ammonia. Old cheap tints would spot and degrade with repeated use of windex, but that is not really an issue on modern film products.

If you used windex for a while, I wouldn't worry over it, but I would use Stoner's going forward just to be on the safe side...

Stoners all the way, the tint turns purple from the pigment fading over time. Anytime you get windows tinted get the best 3m tint they offer, good tints have metal and or carbon in them. You get what you pay for, it will cost you a little more but will outlast the car and any good tinter will offer lifetime replacement for anything!

I use Meguiar's D120 glass cleaner. I get it in a gallon and mix it since I detail a lot of vehicles on the side but it works wonders. It is completely ammonia free and leaves a streak free shine as long as you go over it with a microfiber towel after. It smells like grape too...

I use Pledge on the insides of my windows. No ammonia and it helps as anti-fog. I've been using it for years and years. Only downside is that you won't easily be able to stick stickers, tape, or parking passes to the inside of the window/windshield - but I don't want to anyways.

I like the vanilla and orange scents over the standard lemon.
