Full Exhaust

Has anyone done a full exhaust? As in headers, cats, et all? been giving it some thought, but having trouble finding anything online. So I turn to the peanut gallery.

For an FX50S, btw if that makes a difference.

No headers.

But I know Lerry on here did HFC's on his 2nd gen and ran into some problems with it. I think he needed a tune or something I forget. It made the car act weird and his ses light came on.
 
damn.... that is what I was afraid of.... I'll have to message him to see how he got it resolved. The FX doesn't sound aggressive enough.... At least for my taste...

Not sure what your goals are here you can increase the sound tremendously without affecting the tune by swapping your muffler/rear section. Headers are awesome too but the muffler will be much easier.
 
Talked to the people at the performance shop today, and they suggested just putting cut-outs on instead. So now I have another option to think about....

This is starting to get aggrevating that there were more performance mod choices for my '04 Volvo than my Infiniti.... Would have thought the Infiniti crowd would have been more in to the modifications than the Volvo owners haha

Some manufacturers are wanting to help out us 2nd gen's but no one on here wants to actually go and do something about it lol.

Just like Ark wants to make an exhaust for the FX50 but no one wants to do test fitting.

I think the problem is nobody in the Houston area wants to. I would be more than willing to use my car as a test bed. But all the places are over in cali....
 
Ahh thought I remembered that correctly. Of course that's going to have more mods available. :wink (2):

I have the borla cat bACK AND AN UPREV TUNE ON MY 50s STILL NMOT AS AGRESSIVE AS I WANT IT. gOING TO BE GETTING CUSTOM CATS MADE THIS SUMMER THEN ANOTHER TUNE.

I don't think that it's that nobody does...there are a ton of FX50 owners that would volunteer their cars, but they are not near ARK's area. Do you know anybody that is? If so PM me so I can :vader:
 
I think I have settled on doing the cut-outs when I get back from Scotland next month and then the UpRev tune sometime after that.

I really miss the old Volvo.... untill I have to go up an incline or over a speed bump....

What makes you want to do cutouts?
The reason I did muffler delete was because it did not affect the performance at all, just sound. Cutouts(depending where you put them) will have an affect on performance much like how High flow Cats have an affect. I understand you will be doing an uprev tune, but unless you are going to do cutouts right after the cats you might as well do a muffler or resonator delete (or go borla).
All of this is coming from me also having an fx50 and being in a similar pposition..
I was also thinking of doing cutouts but changed my mind

I already have the Borla on mine. My goal is not to make it louder just for the sake of being louder. I am planning on placing the cut-outs to maximize the gains. I am going to talk to the shop that WPS referred me to in order to do the final planning.

Also, this way I will maintain the current sound until it's time to get on it.

Headers would be awesome but custom only and not inexpensive. If you were to do headers then its an easy transition to a complete header back system.
