Was wondering if you think Plasti Dip is ugly? I decided to try it out after much hate towards it because of the texture. But I found a DIY guide that shows how to keep the texture from showing. I don't know if I like it:

There's something weird about it. I just can't quite put my mind on it. The finish came out great though. Took the grille off and did it:

Lol it's funny you ask this because I took it off just now.

It's not weird, just looks like a matte finish.. they also have a new plastidip glossifier.
I plan on redoing it this summer.

Aaron, can you post an original picture so we can have side by side comparison....so funny you did this because you were so against plasti dip.

I don't have a side by side comparison lol. But you can get an idea of how it looked before from my other pictures. I was against plasti dip and I kind of still am lol I don't know really......something just looks weird to me about it. :confused.:

I did it to my grill and left the Infiniti emblem in chrome. I like the way it came out and looks. Matte black.

Dont know who your asking but when I did my grill I pulled it off and cleaned it up pretty good. Then pulled off the emblem before using plasti dip.

I did exactly what you did (no sanding, just soap and water), except pulling the emblem. How did you pull the emblem off?

It has small tabs on the back and 3m double sided tape. Have to be careful not to break the tabs and then just put new double sided tape when I put it back together. Holds strong.

Sweet, thanks. No wonder it wouldn't budge when I tried pushing the tabs out from under.

I wasn't too thrilled with the way it "feels" so after spraying my grill I covered it with a layer of clear coat to give it the not so matt look. Also before I clear coated it to make it smooth again, I noticed that after waxing my FX if you get wax on it, it takes forever to clean it off and any cloth used to buff the car would live marks or lint on it. With clear coat it's not too bad.

If you don't like the matte finish of the plasti dip, there's another product out there call plasti dip Glosifier. You just have to let the regular plasti dip dry and then start applying the Glosifier, the more coats you put the more shiny it will get.
